"Mushroom King" -Moonstone

They made it to the kitchen, Em set Wendy down at the small wooden table, in the chair she always sat in. Teddy was there waiting for her. Em tuck a chunk of chopped blond hair behind her heated ear before clearing her throat.

     "They left just after midnight."

She took out the needle that was still embedded into her skin with a grimace and look of disgust before placing a bandaid and moving to the breakfast she had made her. Before Wendy could take a bite out of it though, Em had stook a thermometer into her mouth.

Em was happy to see her fever had gone but, now that she's upset, Wendy was going to continue to have a hard time breathing normally and a headache that could last her awhile. After a quarter of her plate was eaten and Em took her sweet time finishing the crossword in the paper, Wendy had enough strength to go get herself ready for the day.

Coming out, high wasted jeans that hugged every dip and curve, one of her father's old t-shirts, and Bo's flannel were worn. Her trusty boots and thick brown socks were also added. Wendy had moved back to the dining table where Em was found reading the rest of the paper and a fresh cup of 'no-bullshit' coffee was being sipped.

"I know you don't want to be here, babysitting me," Wendy mumbled over to Em, playing with the fingers in her lap.

She didn't look up from the paper, "I'm not babysitting you, dummy. I'm here because you need a friend during this shitty time."

Wendy ignored her, "I know you would rather be at your actual job than here with me and my mental breakdown," she rolled her eyes, "Again."

"I don't even work at the newspaper today so, don't worry about that and I'm used to your breakdowns by now."

Wendy huffed before throwing that conversation away to start up a new one, "Did he leave a note this time?"

Em perked up then, her attention moving away from the newspaper, "Yes, he did actually."

She was already standing from her seat at the table to retrieve the letter when Wendy began her questioning, "Where is it? Where did they go? When is Adam coming back?"

Em came back, letter in hand. She pushed her silver glasses up her nose a bit with her pointer finger before rereading it to answer her questions, "Don't know where they went but, I bet I can guess and as for Adam, no idea.

"All I was told was that it could take a few days, a few weeks, to even a few months for the trial and sentencing. Whatever that means. But, he said that the second he was within the tree line of the property, you would know."

Wendy thought to herself, not sure what to make out of it. Next to her, she heard Em sigh before whispering below her breath, "Well, that's sweet ain't it?"

The letter was handed over, Wendy took no time in snatching it away, reading it for herself.

Sonny,

Thanks for watching the brat again. All the money you're owed and saved up for Wendy if anything ever happened to me is in the back bedroom. I'm not going to tell you where I hid it because I think it's funny to watch you scamper around like a madwoman.

     Wish I can see it.

As for your cut, don't use it for drugs.

For Wini, keep her inside until Adam is seen from the tree line of the property. When he's finally back, your job of babysitting the kid is over and you can go about your life. Don't miss me too much, sweetcheeks.
