"Here You Come Again" -Dolly Parton
"Tell me everything and tell me now."
Before Bo even had a chance to open his mouth, Adam's name was being called from down the vacant hall. He looked to his left to find a random guard dressed in uniform.
He took his time stomping his way to Adam, "Murphy," the guard acknowledged, "Alpha and Delta request your immediate presence at the main packhouse."
Adam let go of Bo, nodding over at the guard while he cleared his throat and head. The guard started to walk back down the hall, not looking back to see if Adam was following him. So, quickly, Adam told Bo sternly, "Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone."
He took only but a step before Bo spoke worriedly through the door, "What about my sister?"
With no answer or spare of a look, Adam nods to the guards that stood in front of Bo's cell before swiftly walking to catch up with the guard who was waiting for him at the end of the hall. Bo's yelled obscenities from inside his padded cell were heard, Adam shook his head disapprovingly.
As they continued out of the building, rounding it to a dirt path, and quickly stomping to the packhouse, Adam couldn't help but keep the stone look on his face. The minute he had called for the guard to pick them up on the side of the road, the Adam before Wendy resurfaced.
It was as a switch was flipped and he hated it. He had been in survival mode since the minute he was born and then...Wendy. His sweet little fae, it made so much sense and he didn't know why he didn't notice it before.
Adam felt like an idiot. His entire life was spent in training to be the bounty hunter he was to this day, to notice every detail in a matter of seconds. The mate bond had made him forget everything he learned, as if he was in a tunnel and Wendy was the only thing at the end of it.
Many pack members sent him snarls and sneers that he didn't care for. When he was a child, it bothered him because he didn't understand their dislike for him. It wasn't till he reached his early teens that emotions didn't help, him feeling sorry for himself, listening to all the comments thrown at him...It wasn't going to free him.
His fae mate, the one waiting for him at her home was what set him free. The hells that signaled another supernatural of fae was heard when he arrived that one night to her cabin, the sweet smell of her scent, and that little flicker in her eye...He should have known from minute one what Wendy was.
They had reached the bunker-like packhouse in no time. A shudder ran through Adam quickly from the familiar feeling of the steel buildings that made up the Colorado pack. They were notoriously known for their militant strategy and the whole pack looked the part.
Pack members wore uniforms, divided into sections by job whether it was athletic or domestic. The only members allowed to free dress were children under the age of five and elders over the age of eighty.
Adam had grown up wearing a warrior's uniform. It was only until he became the only and most respected bounty hunter where he could free dress. Adam liked the simple jeans, boots, and leather jacket. Which many saw as disrespect for not wanting to proudly wear the pack's crest.
When both men had made it deep inside the building, passing little to no people to reach the Alpha's office, Adam thought of how Bo, the capturing of him, was the last job he was ever going to take.
