"Your brother?!"
Bright whipped his head facing Gulf, disbelief written all over his face.
"Your brother?" Mew asked Gulf, wrapping his arm around Gulf's trembling body. Mew didn't want to make Gulf feel cornered, so he adopted a calmer tone.
"He is the brother you haven't met yet. He owns the orphanage I was talking to you about at the pet clinic." Gulf mumbled, his head cast down.
"I see. Don't worry. We aren't accusing your brother of being involved. Even if he is, both Bright and I will adopt an objective standpoint. I myself don't think it is possible. I know him relatively well. We go out for drinks sometimes and he is one of the few people I respect in the corporate world."
Lifting Gulf's head, Mew cradled Gulf's face in his hands, bringing him in a soft kiss, comforting him.
Gulf was startled at first, not moving an inch.
However, through Mew's loving actions, he could feel Mew's assurance and trust.
The lips that ever so gently brushed against Gulf's.
The loving licks and nibbles to his lower lip.
The eyes that stared back at him, deep and catastrophic, a vivid emerald green; a great body of water that softly melted into a milky blue.
With their lips slightly parted, Mew gently caressed Gulf's cheek with his thumb.
"Don't worry. We will talk with your brother. Nothing will go wrong. Everything will be fine."
Gulf nodded, his shoulders relaxed.
Mew had a way of bringing him out from his whirlpool of insecurities and anxiety, bringing him into a place of warmth, comfort and security. For that, Gulf is so grateful. That was why he just nodded. He was overwhelmed, falling deeper for the man before him.
"My brother would be at the orphanage to do his daily check, making sure that everything is okay. I will call him and give him a heads-up that we will meet him there to talk." Gulf smiled, his heart lifted.
"Okay! But can I drive?" Bright gave his puppy eyes, trying to lighten the atmosphere while sincerely wanting to drive one of Mew's supercars.
"Sure. You know where the keys are. Go and pick one."
Mew laughed at the sight of Bright scrambling out of the couch, nearly tripping over the doorstep as he exited the penthouse.
"Thank you Mew." Gulf circled his arms around Mew's neck, burying his head in the crook of Mew's neck.
"No need to thank me. It was my own selfish desire to see you happy and not sad. You are my happiness Gulf. If you are not happy, I won't be able to look the other way and be happy."
Kissing Gulf's forehead, Mew enveloped him in a hug, wrapping Gulf in a blanket of warmth, love and care.
