Seeing Mew lie on the bed and rushed to the basement, Gulf knew he was scared.

He stood there at the door of the basement, not entering. For what felt like an eternity but was actually only five minutes.

Each second, Gulf was submerged in fear.

Those old fears running through his head, where he heard his father's heart monitor producing a long beep, four flat lines shown on the screen.

Gulf knew he was scared when these bad memories cut loose their chains and invaded his confidence, eroding the person he had built since the day his father found him.

The fear comes most when he comes to the basement.

Even after giving up medicine, his feet would unconsciously bring him to the basement. Breaking out of his daze, he would cry when he realises where he is. Yet he would still stay to practice, using props. Making sure that his surgery skills never end up rusty.

Jaebeom probably knew since Gulf never seems to finish using the props. There is always an endless supply.

Jaebeom also probably knew that Gulf would someday practice medicine again. The question was when.

When was Gulf able to free himself from his fears. Free himself from the past. Free himself from his guilt. Understand that his father doesn't hold it against him, loving him.

Yes, the fear of failure is still there.

Even so, he had to get it together and face his fear.

No running away.

Because what he feared even more is losing Mew.

"So are we going to do this or what?" Gulf turned around, only to be surrounded by his brothers and Mew's men.

"The operating theatre is ready." Lin Yi pointed.

"The tools are all ready." Weizhou grinned.

"We are all ready." Jaebeom pointed to himself, Weizhou and Lin Yi. Mew's doctors, Thanit and Tee gave a thumbs up, smiling.

"Why are you still here? Go put on your surgical attire and scrub your hands!" Jaebeom chided, elbowing Gulf. He didn't want to scrub his hands again.

Gulf glanced at them, stunned. Confusion, then realisation, then relief.

Gulf exhaled. Slapping his cheeks, he looked at them confidently.

"Let's do this."
