It's Monday. Last week was the last full week with Charmer. I'm going to be staying at home with my baby. I knew Marcus would make that happen if I wanted it to. He gave Eva and Ayla a choice. It feels different knowing it's because it's what Marco wanted, even if I'm bent over the toilet puking at the moment.
Marco: "How long does this last?"
Marielle: "I don't know."
Marco: "I'm so glad your appointment is this week."
I puke some more.
He rubs my back.
Brooklyn: "Dad, I'm here."
Marco: "Bathroom downstairs!"
She comes and stands at the door.
I puke.
Brooklyn: "That's lovely."
Marielle: "It's your sibling."
Brooklyn: "Dad's fault."
Marco: "I own it."
Brooklyn: "I'm not even joking. That child better be a boy."
Marco: "Why are you so set on it being a boy?"
Brooklyn: "You already have enough girls."
Marco: "I do. I don't care either way. I just want a happy, healthy baby."
Marielle: "Me too. I think I'm done."
I sit back, which is between Marco's legs.
I lean my head back. He bends and kisses my forehead.
Marielle: "Are you my replacement Brooklyn?"
Brooklyn: "Yep."
Marcus will be happy. Those two get along really well.
Marielle: "Marco, I think he'll take you up on your suggestion."
Marco: "I think so too."
Marielle: "Let me brush my teeth, and we will go."
Brooklyn: "Ok."
She and Marco step out as I brush my teeth. Once I'm done, I meet them in the kitchen.
Marielle: "Ready?"
Brooklyn: "Yep."
I'm going to warn her. I know my brother.
We take my car.
Marielle: "Brooklyn, I know that you and Marcus get along really well, but I have to warn you when it comes to the company, he's a bit of an asshole."
Brooklyn: "I kind of got the vibe from him anyway. I'll be ok."
We make it to Charmer.
