Chapter Three- It's not going to work

~~Rocky's point of view~~

Three days. Three mornings of running with Caroline. Actually, running with her. Not staying far enough back, she doesn't see me.

I'm in my office working. I can't stop thinking about her. I've been crazy about her for a while. She was the one I told Brooklyn about at my parents that night. That was several months ago.

I hated seeing her interact with that guy. She isn't mine; I can't say anything. She's never once looked at me like she did him.

A knock comes on my door.

Rocky: "Come in."

I'm surprised to see Brooklyn with Turner. Her tiny body with a huge baby bump.

Brooklyn: "We need to talk."

Rocky: "Ok..."

She sits Turner down, and he comes straight to me. I don't know why he likes me. I'm not the friendliest person. That's probably why Caroline doesn't want anything to do with me.

Brooklyn: "We haven't had a chance to talk since dinner at your parents. You said something that night, and I need answers."

Rocky: "I don't want to talk about it, Brooklyn."

Brooklyn: "Well, you're going to."

Rocky: "Would you want your daughter with someone like me?"

Brooklyn: "What do you mean someone like you?"

Rocky: "I know why everyone calls me Ice. It's not a secret."

Brooklyn: "You and I both know that's not true. My daughter would be lucky to have a man like you."

Rocky: "No, she wouldn't. It's what people see."

Brooklyn: "Only you can change that. I need you to tell me who you were talking about."

Rocky: "No."

Brooklyn: "Why?"

Rocky: 'Because she's seeing someone now. I won't ruin that for her."

Brooklyn: "Have you had lunch yet?"

Rocky: "No."

Brooklyn: "Let's go. Marcus has a meeting."

She stands up.

Rocky: "No."

Brooklyn: "Move your ass, Rocky. I'm pregnant and hungry."

Rocky: "Anyone told you your bossy?"

Brooklyn: "Don't make me call your mother."

Rocky: "You play dirty."

I know she would never call my mom. I let her think she's bullying me. I know that she's at home with a toddler most of the time. She craves adult attention.

Rocky: "Where are we going?"

Brooklyn: "Jen's."

Rocky: "My niece wants cheese fries."

Brooklyn: "She does. They also have stuff Turner can eat."
