Chapter Four- Lines are drawn

~~Megan's point of view~~

I got here after Marcus. I got caught up at work. I always feel a little out of place. I know these people love me, and I love them. I just don't feel that I'm on their level. I'm sitting at a table by myself when I see the guy Brooklyn is with get up and walk out.

Marcus is an idiot. I love him, dearly. He's the father of my child. I just have no romantic feelings for him. None. He's an idiot because Brooklyn is the best thing that has happened to him, and he's too blind to see it. She does everything she can to get his attention, and he's oblivious to it. I did catch him staring at her, but I think it's because of who she was with.

Brooklyn got up and went to the bathroom. Marco said something to Marcus then he went into the bathroom with Brooklyn. Something happened in there because he came out angry and has been going shot for shot with Rocky and Rowan. I'm not going to say anything because I know Brooklyn has Turner. He's also never done anything like this before.

A couple of hours pass.

Rhys/Maverick: "Are you ok?"

Megan: "Yes. I'm just tired. Work has been busy. Turner is always on the go. I'm trying to find the balance."

Rhys/Maverick: "How're things with your parents?"

I roll my eyes.

Rhys/Maverick: "That bad, huh?"

Megan: "You would think that they are Turner's parents."

Rhys/Maverick: "You need to get away from them, Megan. That's not healthy."

Megan: "I know."

Rhys/Maverick: "I'm always here if you need anything."

Megan: "I appreciate that Rhys. I think I'm going home."

Rhys/Maverick: "Be careful."

He leans down and hugs me.

I take Turner to Brooklyn. We talk for a bit, then I leave. I go to a diner and get dinner; then I find my way to the river sitting on a bench. I'm lost in my thoughts when I feel someone sit next to me.

Ryder: "Shouldn't be out here by yourself."

Megan: "Did you follow me, Ryder?"

He laughs.

Ryder: "No. I just got home from helping Brooklyn with Marcus. My apartment is right there."

He points to a row of apartments across the river.

Ryder: "I went out to my balcony and saw you. You looked like you needed to talk."

Megan: "I'm ok. Just reflecting on my life decisions."

Ryder: "I do that every single day."

Megan: "I've done it every day since moving back in with my parents."

Ryder: "I bet that is rough."

Megan: "They feel like I should be with Marcus regardless of how we feel about each other."

Ryder: "Marcus is unavailable; he just doesn't know it yet."
