Chapter Nine- Promises Kept

Three months have passed. Daniel and I get along. Most of all, Daniel and Joshua get along. Joshua about lost his shit the first time we went to see him. We had Lillian and Angel with us. We walked in he introduced us to his wife. His wife is Rachel.

He assured us that he didn't tell her. Joshua explained that they had a history. When we went home, we told everyone. They said they were happy for them. She was actually really nice. I do appreciate her helping with Turner.

She and I joked about her saying she wanted nothing to do with the group, and now her husband's daughter is also the daughter of the people in the group.

It's Friday; We're all at the office; Sunday is my eighteenth Birthday.

Someone knocks on my door.

Anissa: "Come in."

Joshua comes in.

Joshua: "Hey."

Anissa: "Hello."

Joshua: "Daniel called."

Anissa: "Oh. What did he want?"

Joshua: "Dinner."

Anissa: "We have to talk to Pop's."

Joshua: "Let's go."

He meets me halfway for a kiss before we leave.

We both know what dinner with Daniel means. Joshua seems extra anxious today.

Joshua: "I hope that he doesn't have plans."

Anissa: "Me too."

Joshua: "This is getting harder and harder, Anissa."

Anissa: "I know. We have two days."

Joshua: "You and I both know we can't announce this just because your eighteen."

Anissa: "I know."

He pulls me closer to him.

Joshua: "You will be my wife."

Anissa: "I want nothing more."

Joshua: "Let's go talk to Rhys."

He kisses me again quickly then we go to Pop's office.

Rhys: "What's up?"

Joshua: "Daniel called. I didn't want to say yes until we talked to you."

Rhys: "We have no plans."

Joshua: "Ok. I'll let him know."

Rhys: "Anissa, can you give Joshua and me a minute?"

Anissa: "Yeah. I have work I need to do anyway."

I don't see Joshua again until it's time to go.

I go say goodbye to Pops.

Rhys: "Y'all headed out?"

He was late coming in today, so he has his car.

Anissa: "Yes."

Rhys: "Tell Daniel and Rachel that I said hello."
