chapter thirty one:
PICK UP THE PHONE, BABY

———

Huge time skip to five years later:

January 10th, 2017.
Los Angeles, California.
Travis

I light up my second blunt for the day and made myself comfortable on the black leather couch of my brand new crib.

"So, what's the move for today?" I asked my manager and best friend, David, while bringing the blunt to my lips.

He checked his phone one last time before placing it on the glass table, "You have an interview with a radio station in about three hours and then you gotta attend the show that you requested, with Quavo." He answered and I nodded.

I blew out some smoke, "Man, how can you keep all this stuff without forgetting about any of it?" I furrowed my brows and asked him.

David laughed, "That's my job, bruh. It's easy though, just book shows and interviews for you, and of course, get you out of trouble." He simply said with a shrug, before laying on the couch.

"Then I should pay you less if it's that easy." I joked and we did our handshake, as I passed him a new blunt.

"All jokes aside, you better not pull any stunt like the previous day's one. You lost many money by doing that." David seriously said but I rolled my eyes.

"Bruh, I told you. I don't give a flying shit about that." I said with an attitude and placed my feet on the table.

"I'm warning you, Trav. You may think that you have a strong fanbase but that doesn't mean that they have to support and try to justify every bullshit move of yours to defend your ass against the internet's trolls."

I kissed my teeth, "Fine, but he deserved it anyway." I shrugged.

"What did he even do to you, man? You were pretty violent last night."

"He was blowing out my girl's back. I couldn't leave him walking around like that." I said and chuckled when a picture of his busted face came to my mind.

"For real? She was cheating on you with... that?"

"I know right? But real talk, I don't know what I have been doing wrong all these years. Two girls that I was in a relationship with, dumped my ass in less than three years, can you believe that?" I complained and brought my fingers to my braids.

"I don't know what to tell you, Trav. But they ain't shit, don't worry about them." David patted my shoulder and I sighed softly.

I know what you're probably thinking. Why do I care so much about those two girls?

Well, we were supposed to be on very serious relationships, but turns out that the first one was embarrassed of me, and the second one had been cheating on my ass with another dude for about two months, but I was too clueless to even notice it.

"Maybe it's a little too early to settle down yet." I announced.

"Hell yeah it is, Trav. You're only twenty four bruh."
