chapter four:
. • . • . I MISSED YOU . • . • .
———
January 15th, 2010.
Houston, Texas.
Jacques
"So, how has L.A. been treating you?" I asked Kelsey while making something to eat.
"Amazing, I have no complaints..."
"But...?" I asked, there's just always a but.
"Well, my father is kind of, being a dick." I turned to look at my phone and saw her rolling her eyes at what she said.
"What do you mean?" I quickly asked.
"It's just that... he's always so busy and I get it, but, we don't talk much, plus he's bringing different women to our house everyday. It's whatever though." She explained and I nodded.
"Your dad is a jiggy muhfucka I see." I joked to light up the mood and Kelsey laughed.
"All jokes aside, I feel so alone in this, huge ass house." She showed the room she was in and I nodded, feeling the urge to play the victim.
I wiped some fake tears, "I kind of feel offended right now." I laughed and she tucked her lips.
"Aw, poor Jack. I don't feel alone when I'm talking to you. Or Scarlett and Ash." She said and I smiled.
"Oh, so y'all lost touch with Sophia and Chris too?" I asked and she nodded.
"Yeah, when they both got accepted into Harvard, we lost touch with them. Happens in every friends group."
"I agree. I still talk to Chris but he's being pretty distant. I'm the one that always calls of texts him." I honestly said and she nodded.
"Just let 'em be. I was so sad at first but after talking to my mom about it, I think it's better this way."
"What did mom Ayesha say?"
"Real friends will stick with you till the end."
"Real talk. I believe that, though." I admitted and Kells nodded her head.
"Me too. And Soph not interacting with us, shows that she's starting a new chapter in her life without us. It's fine." She shrugged and I started eating the sandwich I had made.
"So, when are you coming to LA?" She asked me after a few seconds of silence.
"When I will have enough money for a plane ticket and a place to stay." I said with a stuffed mouth and she chuckled.
"Jack, we've talked about this one thousand times. You're staying with us. You know that my father has no problem with you." Kelsey softly reminded me but I rolled my eyes.
"I gotta stand on my own feet, Kells. I don't wanna bother anyone." I honestly said and she kissed her teeth.
"Jacques, you know that you are like a second son to my father. Stop being so stubborn and let him help you." She softly said and I rolled my eyes, because she was right.
She's always right unfortunately.
"Fine but, my parents can't find out about this. They will stop giving me money if they find out that I'm not going to college no more." I warned.
"I will talk to him. He will definitely agree." She said in excitement, which made me smile.
"We will finally meet after one year, damn." I said.
"I know right?! It's gonna be lit."

Time skip to January 25th.
LAX, Los Angeles.
Kelsey
"Where the hell are you?! You said gate seventh but I can't find you anywhere!" Jack said through the phone and I took a moment to check my surroundings again.
"Oh shit, wait. I'm on gate eleventh." I laughed and he ended the call.
After a few minutes, I felt a pair of two strong arms wrapping around me. I was about to hit whoever that was but when I looked at the person, a smile took over my whole face, as a feeling of happiness filled my whole body.
"You scared me!" I playfully hit his chest and he laughed, showing his pearly whites.
He opened his arms and I hugged him tight. We broke the hug and starred at each other's eyes for a few seconds.
"Shit, did you get taller or sum?" He asked me with a smile.
"I think I did, actually." I laughed.
"I really missed you." I admitted and he smiled.
"I missed you too, come here." We hugged once again and stayed like that for some seconds.
We finally reached my dad's house. I unlocked the door and locked it again when we both got inside.
"Holy shit. Your dad's crib is huge." Jacques said and I nodded.
"You will get used to it, c'mon, imma show you around the house and then your room." I said and he followed behind me. After showing him the whole house, we headed to his room.
"This is your room, it's next to mine." I said and he nodded.
"Man, y'all been living luxurious and shit." He said and I laughed.
"We're gonna have all of this and more soon." I seriously said and he chuckled.
"I hope. Thanks for letting me stay in here."
"Stop saying that. You're family." I smiled and we hugged.
"What was that sound?" Jacques asked and broke the hug.
"Dad must be here. Let's go." We headed downstairs and saw my father making something to eat.
"Jacques! You're finally here!" He said and dapped Jack.
"Thank you so much for letting me crash in here. I really appreciate it, G." Jack said.
Jacques and my father always had this close relationship, since my father has no sons. I can confidently say that they're bros or something.
"No problem, J. Have you called your parents to let them know that you landed safely?"
"About that..." Jack started.
"Folks don't know I'm in L.A. They think I'm at some fancy ass college in Texas. I would appreciate it even more if you wouldn't tell them anything because I really want the money."
"Oh boy. Of course, of course. Just be careful. If you get in trouble they will find out eventually, though." My dad warned and Jack nodded.
"I will be good."
"Thanks, dad." I said and he nodded.
"Also..."
"No funny business, got it?" Dad asked and we laughed.
"Roger that, G." Jacques dapped my father again and we both went to his room.
