❃ Evangeline ❃
I gazed out the window of the taxi, blinking my eyes as I admired the surroundings of the city. The radio had been drowned out by the countless honking by the other vehicles surrounding us, it seemed like we were stuck in a traffic jam.
The manager of the restaurant was accommodating enough to call a taxi for me, since I did not drive.
I felt like walking through the streets of the world, hence, I did not drive any of the luxury cars Evangeline had in her garage.
The world wasn’t any different from any developed urban area. Though, I do not know where this city is specifically on Earth.
In fact, since it is from a novel, it is most likely a nameless fictional city.
Moreover, this novel used two different types of tropes.
Vampires and metahumans.
Humans in this world have an ability, and vampires have been at war with them for the longest time.
Even though I knew of this infamous harem novel, and I read it, it did not mean I knew it all.
First of all, it was just a novel for me to kill time.
I did not read it seriously, and skimmed through many parts. Moreover, my memory of this horrendous novel wasn’t that good.
I only remembered the main characters of this novel.
I didn't even remember an extra like Evangeline.
Although, I do remember a scene like this in the novel for the male lead, Aaron. He was in debt after saving someone that would become a helpful ally for him in the future, at the expense of his entire life savings.
Thus, he had to turn to another one of his allies for money.
Evangeline recalled her first impression of this ally that he turned to for money, was like a piggy bank.
That's exactly what Evangeline was for.
A piggy bank, a sugar mommy.
The one thing she would never lack is money.
I glanced at the time on my smartphone, it was twenty minutes before 9 p.m.
“He said to meet him at 9 p.m. at the park, didn’t he?” I mused to myself, frowning to myself. “Should I just run there?”
The instinct to be on time for every meeting had been ingrained into me, due to my previous life. Hence, I disliked being late and it was one of the healthier habits I adopted.
"I'm getting off here, I'm rushing for time."
The taxi driver simply nodded, and I forked out the fee from my wallet.
I stuffed all my belongings into my handbag, and I quickly wore my heels, wincing as it rubbed against my sore spot.
I don’t think I would be able to run to the park in these heels.
I grimaced.
Actually, I could, since I was taught in my previous life to appear elegant in every possible event, and always be on time. Running in heels was a common occurrence for me, no matter how much my feet hurt.
I had an image to maintain or a harrowing punishment awaited me.
Since no one here existed from my world, there was no one to judge me. I could run to the park without heels on, but thinking about the rough pavement and rubbish scratching against my bare feet made me shudder.
