I stared at the teenage boy on the ground, clawing at my legs as he glared at me with unbridled hatred. His actions, his injured state and his hostile gaze; all of it reminded me of my past.

He was just like the pitiful young me.

Powerless.

Watching helplessly as his clan was wiped out.

Clawing desperately at his enemy, as if it would do something.

Anything.

...as if a pathetic action like that would bring back those he had lost.

"..."

I kicked him away, looking down at him with cold eyes.

"Be a coward and run, or hunt me down for vengeance, the choice is yours."

My business was done here.

I had fulfilled the wishes of my father and my uncle.

...but even then, so what?

None of it could bring back what their ancestors took from us.

None of it.

Not my mother who is in eternal sleep, not my father who lost the love of his life along with his senses.

Just like that, I allowed the bane of my existence to live on, and he lived on to kill me. It was a death I accepted, a death that granted me peace.

That was the only time I felt grateful towards the hunters, especially Aaron.

However, that peace was momentary.

It felt like a minute had passed before I gasped awake, my eyes bursting open.

That's when I found myself back at the moment where my father and my uncle were planning for the attack.

That was the start of it all.

The start of a never-ending life. A tormenting nightmare that I could not escape from.

In my second life, I came to terms with going back to the past quick enough. It was surprising but it wasn't unexpected. Somehow, something within me expected something like this from fate.

Fate wasn't merciful, especially not to me.

I didn't want anything other than the peace that death provided me. I expedited the process, and once again, met my death at the hand of my enemy.

Aaron.

"This time, I don't owe you and you don't owe me anymore."

"Peace, at long last. This is the only thing I will thank you for, Aaron."

"Go to hell, you vampire bastard."

"Yeah, hell is fine too. Anywhere...but this awful world."

I closed my eyes, and yet again, the peace lasted for a few seconds.

The next moment, I found myself seated on a high chair with my stubby hands clutching onto utensils. Everything around me felt taller, and I felt smaller.

Weaker.

I came back to life for the third time, and this time, I was a mere child.

"Oh, Segi. Why aren't you eating? I know human food doesn't fill our hunger, but it's still enjoyable, isn't it?"
