Segi

I rested my chin on my hand, my elbow on the table as I gave an impassive stare at the people sitting opposite me. It was Eva's secretaries and Aaron, the three of them wore conflicted and awkward looks on their faces, paralyzed in their seats.

I was seated beside Eva and next to her was that little enthusiastic brat, Ren. I gave him a glance and he showed me a happy grin in return, making me raise my eyebrows.

Ren scratched his neck, his expression growing sheepish as he looked between me and Eva, before swivelling his head back to the front.

"..."

No one was speaking.

The food was placed on the table a minute ago, and it was steaming hot.

"..."

It was too quiet.

What an uncomfortable atmosphere.

"..."

In the end, I reached for the fork and scooped up a small serving of dish that Eva had cooked earlier. Opening my mouth, my fork almost touched my lips when someone grabbed onto my arm.

"You...you asshole," Aaron growled out, his glare was murderous. "How dare you nonchalantly eat after what you tried to do–"

"Stop it, Aaron. Like I said, even if anything happened, I would be fine with it since it was Segi." Eva stated hurriedly.

I didn't know it was possible to swell with glee from someone's words.

"Do you hear that, Aaron?" I smirked, snatching my arm back and shoving the food into my mouth and chewing it obnoxiously.

Aaron was fuming, and it pleased me to see him like that.

I turned to look at Eva the next second, and her eyes wandered around, looking everywhere except for me.

My smirk widened.

The urge to tease her till her ears became red was too tempting.

"Freaking asshole." Aaron cursed.

I swallowed my food, shrugging. "What right do you have to care? Why do you care anyway? For Eva, you are nothing but an acquaintance."

"Segi, stop provoking him–"

"You bastard! I'm more than an acquaintance!" Aaron barked out, grabbing me by the collar and my fork dropped onto my plate. "I am...I am..."

"You are...?" I probed, snorting as I pushed him off.

"I am her friend, like a family to her!"

Eva's secretary, Mint, turned to look at Aaron with a disgusted expression.

"Wh-what?" Eva sputtered out, only for her body to tilt sideways when someone grabbed onto her arm. "That's not–"

It was her other secretary, Wind.

"Boss, boss! Tell me everything! Are you in love? Are you dating this hottie? Who exactly is he? Why does he look so familiar? Were you going to kiss if we didn't walk in? Ignore Mr. Aaron, he's just...ew!"

Ren choked on his food at Wind's last few words. He only started eating after I did, what a weird kid.

"Excuse me?" Aaron questioned, offended.

Alas, he was completely disregarded by Wind.

I was starting to regard Eva's nosy secretaries in a better light.
