Sitting in my car, I stretched my arms into the air and inhaled deeply. It was summer in New Zealand, and I wore my sunglasses, relaxing into my seat. The engine purred softly in the background, and our light and loose clothes swayed to the wind.

It was a beautiful spring.

Aaron was the driver for this trip, and he kept his eyes on the road.

Meanwhile, Segi was laying down in the backseat, completely covered up. His eyes were closed as he placed his arm over his head. Vampires hated the sun after all, to them, the sun was their night.

"Vampire bastard, are you sure you wanna come along? The sun is killing you, isn't it?"

"...shut up."

"What are you gonna do? Kill me?"

"...why are you even here? This concerns my mother. You are useless."

"What if you end up hurting Christine?"

"Like you won't try to woo her over to your side first. You are non-recyclable trash."

"..."

I sighed, lowering my sunglasses and glancing at the two of them.

"If the two of you are gonna continue like this, I'll meet Christine alone and leave you on the roadside."

"Eva, he clearly..."

"...started it first!"

"You could have just kept your mouth shut and continued driving. But hunters like you just don't listen, as usual."

"I'm not your goddamned chauffeur!"

"Fine. I give up." I raised my arms up in surrender. I couldn't blame either of them for hating one another, and arguing with each other every other minute. "I'll meet Christine myself, how about that? The two of you can head back to the villa, and you will not have to see each other for the entire time."

The two opened their mouths to retort before they stiffened. Aaron immediately slammed on the brakes and reached over to shield me.

Segi bolted up from his seat, his eyes glowing red as he flicked blood into the air. Three vampires appeared out of nowhere, snarling and slashing down at us. Their attacks were immediately deflected by Segi.

"What the hell?! Why are they attacking us when you are here?!" Aaron yelled, tossing himself out of the car and rolling on the ground, standing up hastily. "Are they out of their mind?!"

"I warned you, didn't I?" Segi vaulted over the car, approaching the vampires who were hovering in the air. "My uncle wants this war to continue, and he'll kill anyone standing in his way."

"Even his own nephew?"

A bunch of blood javelin appeared beside Segi, and there was an intense glow in his eyes.

"Yes, even me," Segi replied, glancing back at me and Aaron. "Be sure to protect Eva well."

"Hmph," Aaron straightened himself as he whipped out his sword out of thin air, pointing at the vampires before him. "You don't need to tell me twice."

"Segi." I called out in worry.

"Don't worry, I got this." Segi smiled at me, narrowing his eyes at Aaron. "If he was the one fighting them, he would have killed my brethren."

Aaron and Segi were standing side by side at the trunk of the car, and the winged vampires in the air hissed at them. There was a menacing look in their chilling crimson red slitted eyes.
