Here's where the stories diverge for a chapter or two. -Silverstorm

Kamellia's POV

I faded in and out of consciousness. My head was pounding, vision spinning and when I opened my eyes the world seemed to tilt dangerously. I kept envisioning my mom and dad.

December 25th

I ran downstairs to be met with the sight of nothing under the tree. Mom and Dad follow me and smirk at the puzzled look on my face.

"Where are the presents?" I ask.

"There are none cause you've been a naughty girl this year, Kamellia," my father says to me.

"And for that you're being punished," Mother adds. She walks over and slaps me, hard so I'm knocked to the ground. Then it's Father's turn to come over and kick me in the chest resulting in my throat constricting painfully so I couldn't breathe.

A cold hand on my forehead launched me back to reality. Bright lights shined over my body. My fingers twitch and I could feel a squishy fabric underneath them. The feeling was faint and fuzzy but it was there. Just then, I slipped back into the darkness.

Darkness all around me. I felt around for the light switch and found it. The room illuminated and the image of me appeared in the mirror. A figure cloaked in shadows manifested in the doorway behind me. I looked them directly in the eyes through the mirror. Their piercing black eyes stared straight back at me.

"Hello Kamellia," their voice was wispy and echoed in the small room. " I'm Shadow, Shadow Storm."

"What are you?" I ask.

"Um. Let's just say I'm your spirit guide."

The world around us lit up in a bright rosy hue.

Emaline's POV

I woke up to the feeling of water being poured on my face in a gentle stream. My eyes opened and there, floating in front of me was a gothic looking girl. She was hauntingly beautiful. She had an oddly comforting aura to her and-

Wait, floating? How is she floating? And then all the questions came flowing into my brain. Where the hell am I? Am I in hell? How did I get here? Who is this girl? I prop myself up on my elbows and look around at the dark forest surrounding me.

"Hello Emaline," the girl said, extending her hand to help me to my feet. A chill ran up my spine when she spoke to me.

"Salutations?" I said back, reluctantly accepting her hand. She pulled me up, wrapped her arms around me tightly and up we went.

"Where are we and who are you?" I ask nervously, while she flies me up over the trees and gorgeous mountain ranges; waterfalls with rainbows of mist. She lands on the edge of a waterfall that overlooks the valley.

"I am Shadow, Shadow Storm. And this is the Outlands. The Outlands are a place between life and death. It is but it isn't reality. The Outlands are a place of beauty," Shadow gestured to the valley.

"And why are you here? What are you?" I demand, getting fed up with this girl's games.

"People are in the Outlands to complete a task which determines if they get to go back to the land of the living and if a person doesn't they stay here until they complete the task. The thing is people don't know what their task is. I found my task early on when I got here because let's just say I'm a spirit guide here to guide you to your task," Shadow said calmly. "Your task is to find your husband and mend the relationship you have with your family. Kamellia needs you and Levi. I'm here to reunite the three of you but it's your job to be a parent and wife which should have been clear to you from the get-go but obviously it wasn't," Shadow said to me a little savagely.

"What's that supposed to mean you suicidal non-conformist bitch!" I raise my arm to throw a punch at her but she floats out of the way and I end up looking like a dumbass hitting the empty air.

"I'm a thousand years old, you can't hit me," she says. "Pfft, idiodic human."

"If you think I'm so idiodic then why are you even here?"

"Were you even listening? I have been watching the three of you, your entire lives. I've seen everything that's going to happen to you and I knew when I saw that car accident it was my, and your, and your husband's, and your daughter's ticket out of here. I've been here for a thousand years since I died watching everyone come and go. I wanna go too and when you and Leviathan appeared I knew getting the three of you to find each other and be a family was my task as well as yours; that's why I'm a spirit guide cause I'm bound to this family by the Outlands to help you until you get out of here. And when you, Leviathan and Kamellia leave together, that's when I move on." I could feel Shadow's tone go from cold and lifeless to depressed and longing as she sat down next to me on the ledge. Her black hair and ruffled skirt softly being lifted by the cool breeze.

878 words in this chapter. Let me know if you want to see art of Kami, Levi, Emaline and Shadow or even a map of the Outlands which is an idea that will be expanded upon in the oncoming chapters. I know I didn't mention Levi's POV in this chapter but it's coming up in the 3rd. Chapter 3 will be coming out next Sunday (January 9th, 2021). Until then I love you all! -Silverstorm
