Emaline's POV
He said he didn't have that much to drink. Do I believe him? No. Of course not.
Why? Cause he's my husband. But before I could get to the driver's seat he had already started up the car. Kami and I reluctantly followed as if we had no other choice. I didn't know at the time until we started driving home and I noticed he was swerving on the road a bit.
"Are you alright, dear?" I ask, not really paying that much attention to his answer. Then he did it again until we were practically in the oncoming lane. Thank God no cars were coming towards us.
"What are you doing?" This time I listened to him.
"I'm driving. What does it look like?" He said, a bit too lackluster.
"Stop the car," I say firmly.
"Mom. What's happening?" Kami asks from the backseat.
Kamellia's POV
I knew exactly what was happening. But I ask anyway.
"Mom. What's happening?" I look at her face and try to read the pulled expression she had on. Just as I thought, he was completely wasted. This isn't good, this isn't good, this is not good at all I thought. I'm in a car with a drunk driver and we're speeding down the road at- I look at the speedometer on the dashboard- 75 miles per hour in a 45 zone!
Oh shit.
I was pulled out of my thoughts by my mom screaming at my dad and grabbing at the wheel to try and pull over. Then before my mind could process anything blinding lights shined in my face and air horn sounds tore through the screaming from an 18 wheeler coming straight at us. Mom pulled the wheel towards her but it was too late.
I braced for impact and covered my head with my arms. Nothing happened. An adrenaline rush took over and I couldn't hear anything but a loud ringing in my ears. Oh no. It must've happened so fast that I died instantly. But I found the courage to open my eyes and bring my arms down from my face. And reality set in.
"I'm alive?" I whispered. In the front seat my mom and dad were still fighting over the wheel; each trying to gain control of the car. We were still on the other side of the road. The car had no control and before long black haze clouded my vision. I felt my body collapse to the side as screams rang out. They didn't sound like my mom or dad screaming at each other, no.
This was a scream of pain.
The black haze faded in and out until it finally cleared. My face was met with leaves and the thick branch of an oak tree slashing through the middle of the car. I couldn't get up; I couldn't move. It's like my body is frozen to the seat.
Everything happened so fast and before I knew it the haze returned and I passed out.
Emaline's POV
"Let me take control of the wheel, you almost got us killed!" I yell at Levi, grabbing the wheel trying to control the car and get us back on the correct side of the road. He yanked it back saying:
"Nooo just let me drive us home, it's fiiine. I'm fine, we all fine here," he said like a whining little girl.
"How many drinks did you have?"
"Me and the boys were hanging out in the bathroom smoking dope and having a contest downing bottles of whiskey and beer," he replied.
(I'm not sorry for that.)
My eyes went wide when I realized just how many drinks he had. I needed to get in control of the car before something happened.
Too late.
It's already happened. I was conscious throughout the entire thing.
My husband twisted the wheel, hard. The car sped through the guard rail and down the small incline directly into a tree specifically with thick low hanging branches.
The trunk of the tree got brighter and brighter as the headlights came straight for it, a branch as thick as my torso, that was perfect for climbing the tree smashed through the windshield. The next thing I knew it was directly through my throat, cutting off my oxygen, blood pouring onto the seat by the pint. The blood was thick and wine colored. I couldn't move. It's like my body was frozen to the seat. All of a sudden my head tilted to the side little by a little more until it was parallel to the dashboard and I heard a bone crack and flesh tear and squelch, my flesh.
Leviathan was lying face down on the hood of the car with a red collared shirt on; he had left the house with a blue shirt. His intestines were draped over the tree branches and the snow was stained a deep devil's crimson. The windshield was smashed: glass everywhere and bloody, so was the tree. And that horrific sight was the last thing I saw before all the soul I had left my eyes and the world was engulfed.
Leviathan's POV
Emaline yanked the wheel away from me and I grabbed it back harder twisting the wheel as far as it would go and of course as expected the car went. I didn't really realize how cloudy my mind was until we were herdling down the snowy hill. I felt a scream bubble up from my lungs as everything became clear. The car crashed into the tree with such force that I didn't even know what happened. But in the last moments I had of feeling, I felt glass prickling my face, then cold, very cold and empty inside, then I felt nothing.
Nothing at all.
Soo...
That was a hell of a chapter. I did say gore warning but I might rewrite small parts of this chapter because I'm not completely satisfied with it. That might be because I'm writing under a deadline which makes me feel pressured but if I didn't write with one, I'd never finish the book. So chapter ii will come out next Sunday night (January 3rd, 2021) and we'll see what happens. *EDIT: This chapter has 961 words. I forgot to mention that sorry!* Love you all. -Silverstorm
