"Where you off to?" My head lifted up as I spoke to Scott, who had came down the stairs dressed more nice than usual, which was strange. "You look awfully fancy"
"Fancy?" He looked down at his clothes, patting them down awkwardly. "Do you think it's too much? I had no clue what to wear, last time I was at a party was months ago"
"A party, huh?" My eyebrows rose and I chuckled at him. "You look good, be confident! I had no clue there was even a party to attend"
"Really?" He walked in, looking out the window for something. "I just assumed that you were coming and that's why you're dressed up. Did Stiles not say anything?" His hands pointed to what I was wearing.
"No" I scoffed. "Besides, this is not what I would wear to a party, I thought you knew me better than that, duh. I'm going out with Lydia, and.." My voice trailed off, not wanting to mention her name.
"-Allison?" I nodded at him. "Look! It's fine. Seriously, I've moved on, totally"
"Alright, I believe you. Oooh!-" I jumped up from the couch and balled my fists together excitedly. "Does this mean you'll be mingling at this party?"
"No mingling" He shot me down and laughed. "Just happy being me"
"Good, glad to hear it - independence is good for you, you're doing great. Now, back to why Stiles' hasn't said anything about this party. Any reason?" I wasn't particularly the jealous type, but some things just needed to be answered before they became bigger issues in my head. I was good at that.
His hand scratched the back of his head uncomfortably. "Not clue, it's an old friend from school I think - so we won't know anybody there. I don't exactly want to go honestly but he seems enthusiastic about it and squashing his bubble would be sad.." Old friend from school wasn't threatening at all, Stiles wasn't gay - so that was fine. Headlights from outside lit up his face and the ever so raspy jeep horn sound echoed down the street. "There he is! Got to go"
"Have fun" He pulled a face at me. "Well, as best as you can. And tell the Birthday boy I said hello!" My hand waved him out the door as he grabbed his things.
"Birthday girl" He corrected me as he slipped out the door, leaving me with an open mouth and jealousy that I shouldn't really have.
"I hope she's ugly" I muttered to myself and ran a hand through my hair, checking my messages on my phone.
'On our way!' Lydia was far too chirpy when she texted, but seeing her finally happy was nice.
Sliding on my shoes and grabbing my jacket, I heard Allison's car pull up outside. Melissa was at work, so I quickly locked the door and headed down, sliding in the backseat. "Hey"
"Hey - question, do these look weird to you?" Allison span around to me and showed her wrist. "Lydia, give me yours" And reluctantly, Lydia gave Allison her wrist too.
"Um-" I stared at the bruises, trying to find something strange about them. "They just look like bruises, I think. Why?"
She huffed and started the car, pulling away from the house. "I just think they look strange, like it was meant to happen, I don't know"
"Is this the girl that was looking for Scott?" We had all caught each other up on the day before's happenings, but there was a lot that happened in one day so the lines were a bit blurry.
"Yeah, the psychopath" Lydia shook her head and looked out the window.
"She was kind of crazy, yes. But isn't it strange that a girl would find me and Lydia at school and ask for Scott McCall? Like, surely it has something to do with what we're all thinking"
"The supernatural" I stated.
"Exactly, so then there was a reason that she grabbed us and left these, right?"
"I think you're going crazy" Lydia turned to face me. "Don't you?"
"Well.." I started. "From what I've learned being here is that you shouldn't overlook anything out of the ordinary, even the small things. So maybe we should just keep an ear out and see if there's anything that relates to this?"
"Good idea" Allison nodded at me in the mirror and we all fell silent for a moment before I checked my phone another time, wiping my brow.
"What was that?" Lydia narrowed her eyes at me.
"What was what?" I squinted at her and cocked my head.
"You. You've checked your phone five times in the last two minutes. Is something wrong?"
"No" I didn't quite believe myself. "Everything is fine back here"
"You said that weirdly" Allison looked at me again.
"Said what weirdly?"
"You're doing it again. You're being weird" She pulled the car over in a layby and I looked about, scoffing at them.
"I am not being weird"
She turned off her car and flipped around to me so they were both staring now. "Spill"
"Fine" I sat back. "Stiles and Scott are at a party tonight"
"Ooooh" Lydia nodded. "So you're jealous?"
"No" I snapped. "No jealousy here. It's just, I thought it was a boys party - which would be fine. But then I found out that it was one of Stiles' old friends, a girl"
"Did he say to you before that she was just a friend?" Ally placed her hands on the seat.
"No, he kind of didn't tell me at all?"
"What - as in, didn't say he was going?" Lydia gawked and I nodded at them. "That's weird"
"Very" She agreed with her and continued. "Are you guys official?"
"No, we're just taking things slow and with everything new happening and so many different things, I don't think we will ever get to properly take that step"
"Hey" Her hand rubbed my leg. "Don't stress - he probably didn't tell you because it isn't a big deal and he didn't want this exact thing happening. If you still feel weird then confront him tomorrow at School about it?"
"Yeah, you're right" I blew out a breath. "It's probably nothing"
But in the back of my mind, I knew there was something wrong.
