I was sitting downstairs on the couch watching TV when Scott popped his head around the corner and smiled at me, making a strange face. Swivelling around to him, I cocked an eyebrow. "What's up?" His face was telling me he was going to say something important.
"Well.." He came in and planted himself next to me. "I was thinking about getting a tattoo.."
"Okay.." My hand grabbed the remote, turning the TV on mute and giving him my full attention. "What of? I didn't even realise that you guys could get tattoo's honestly"
His head shook. "Me neither, but Derek has that triskelion on his back, so I just assumed that it was possible" I nodded as he spoke, it made sense. "I was thinking about getting this thing that I always draw with my fingers.." He brought his hand up and made two circles in the air. "Like this"
"Yeah, I've seen you write that on notepads before" He's spent the full summer studying - it was strange to see him not with Allison. I had only seen her a select few times this summer too, Lydia was the main person that I had hung out with, besides Stiles of course, but nobody needed to know that. "What does it mean?"
"I'm not sure actually - I guess it's just a symbol of how far I've came this summer and how many changes I've made to myself. Sort of like a reward?"
"Yeah, that's true. You've done so good staying away from Allison" I gave his shoulder a comforting squeeze, I was proud of him.
He thanked me and tilted his head at me. "You've done the same too - spent the full summer away from Stiles as much as you can, just for me. So, thankyou it's really helped honestly"
"Yeah" My hand scratched the back of my head anxiously, I had been trained on how to lie and keep my heart rate down so lying to him was easy, but that didn't mean it was right. "It's been hard, but I'm glad that we're gonna be back at school soon and we can see all our friends again because I'm getting tired of seeing your face" I laughed with him and he nodded at me.
"Don't worry, you'll be able to see a whole load of people soon - you can count on that! I think everyone's been a bit missing this summer with everything that went on the last year"
"Amen" I held my hands up. "I've tried texting Isaac to see if he wanted to hang out but he's not gotten back to me for ages, so I guess he's just taking some time to chill - and Allison has been working on herself too" He winced at the mention of her name so I swiftly moved on. "But Lydia is good, and you've seen Stiles quite a lot so that's good"
He was about to speak but the front door clicked open and Melissa walked in carrying a shopping bag in her nurses scrubs. Scott jumped up and helped her with her things and I waved to her. "That was a short shift"
Her head shook. "I need to go back, there's been a few animal related accidents today and we're backed up, but I brought dinner" My face lit up and I walked over to her, taking the food out of her hand.
"How kind of you, thank you" Melissa's kindness never failed to amaze me, she was a great mother figure that I looked up to every day. "Animal related did you say?" I cocked an eyebrow at her, remembering back to when Stiles and I almost killed a dog that ran out in front of the jeep. Probably a silly coincidence though, no need to think too much on it - things have been great, and I wasn't about to start finding things that weren't there.
"Yeah, it's strange. I had one couple in that quite literally had to fight off a fox, they ended up killing it because it was going to attack them" Her head shook.
