I stepped out my car and grabbed the bag filled with my dinner - I didn't actually know what time it was, I hadn't bothered to look since leaving the animal clinic. But what I did know was that I was hungry. Which I guess wasn't anything unusual since being set on fire and then somehow resurrected in a ball of flames.
Which, by the way, I hadn't told anybody. There seemed to be only one person that I wanted to chat to and ask advice about. Seeing as she was pretty new to the supernatural world I guessed not much could go wrong and she wouldn't freak out or decide to disown me...all bold assumptions, very bold - but we needed bold.
After all, her son was a werewolf.
"Melissa!" I waved my hand to her and she smiled, walking over and gasping at the bag of warm Chinese food in my hand.
"You brought me food? You didn't have to!" I mean, I didn't.
"Oh, yeah!" I handed her it reluctantly. "I got this for you, figured you would be hungry"
"You're a lifesaver, you know that?" She kissed me on the cheek and looked behind me. "Where are your sidekicks? They don't usually stray very far"
"Everyone's away on that Cross Country Trip, remember? I think they're coming back today though, or tonight?"
We walked over to her desk as she opened my food and started to eat it. It looked so nice.
"How come you aren't there? I thought you were good at running or something...I mean, that's got to be a requirement doing what you do and living in this town"
"You're right" I chuckled. "I was meant to go but something came up a day or two ago. That's actually why I'm here, to talk to you about it? If that's alright"
She sat up and nodded. "Of course! Do we need to go somewhere quiet or is here okay?"
Looking about at all the patients waiting to be seen, I smiled. "Somewhere quiet?"
We walked into a nearby empty patients room and she sat me down on the bed. "Is everything okay Ashlynn? You look worried" I stayed quiet, not knowing where to start. "This thing you're talking to me about, do Scott and Stiles know?"
"No, they don't" My head shook. "I actually just found out a few hours ago. It's why I couldn't go to the track meet. Something happened" I stopped. "Something happened to me"
"Are you alright?" Her eyes examined me as I spoke.
"I'm okay now, but I was stabbed"
"By who?" She sat forward.
My head shook. "I can't tell you, it doesn't matter. But I was stabbed and I should have died, but I didn't die and that's what I'm telling you, so you can't freak out. Okay?"
"I'm not good at not freaking out, but I'll try"
"Okay" I took a deep breath, it was now or never. "Deaton, the animal doctor, found me after I was stabbed" She nodded along with me. "He said that I was seriously injured and somehow healed myself - I don't know exactly what he meant, but I was on fire"
"On fire like doing really well, or actually on fire?"
"On fire, like my body up in flames and then suddenly I was alright, like nothing had happened at all. He said it was some kind of supernatural occurrence" I pulled her hand into my own. "I'm quite frightened, I've never heard or seen anything like this before"
