✑ᴡᴏʀᴅᴘᴏʀɴCHAPTER NINE - ROISIN VS THEO
AFTER MY KISS with Pansy, Graham joined me. A lot of people were completely stunned by what had just happened. Some Slytherins had witnessed my argument with Theo and several made a fuss out of it. Even my kiss with Pansy had elicited several reactions. I didn't mind at all, they could say whatever they wanted. However, I had promised Montague that the kiss meant nothing. I had briefly shed some light on my misunderstanding with Theo and Malfoy as well as my sudden interest in Pansy. It was only to prove a point. That's all. I didn't stay too long at the party after that. So much had happened and being able to get back to my bed was much more interesting. Graham still kissed me one last time before I went to bed.
What I hadn't anticipated was how my friends would behave after the party. The following day, Theodore completely stopped speaking to me and avoided me like the plague. Blaise had also restricted himself to only greet me and Daphne did the same. They only nodded to acquire my presence or to say hello at meals which was quite disappointing on their part. Only Tracey spoke to me in my inner circle of friends which made things pretty awkward in our dorms. Daphne never spoke directly to me and so Tracey was always between the two of us. I understood Daphne who wanted to show solidarity with my brother, but it was slightly childish. But the most surprising thing was Tracey's sudden change around midweek. Theo must have got into her head, because I felt that she was distancing herself from me. It wasn't as bad as the others, but being my best friend made me notice it further.
On Thursday, I was slightly late from my friends to go to potions. When I walked over to Tracey, at our usual table, everyone gave me awkward glances. I knew the last few days Blaise, Theodore and Daphne had avoided me, but I wasn't going to stop sitting with them. I paid no more attention to their looks and started pulling out my textbooks for class. As I began to leaf through my book for today's lesson, Theodore nudged Tracey lightly and Tracey sighed.
"Roisin, do you think ... for today you could sit at another table?" I looked up at Tracey. I couldn't believe she was asking me to change places. I could still sense something torn as she made such a request, but she forced herself as best she could to avoid my gaze. It wasn't her place to interfere in my argument with my brother let alone take a stand. He knew it, but continued to antagonise my friends. I had been blunt even mean but not to the point of being excluded. Well, that was the ultimate downside to having mutual friends with your siblings.
"Are you serious?" I looked at her in astonishment and little judgment.
"Well, I think it's best for to-" I didn't let her finish. I abruptly picked up my book and went to sit down with Millicient and Pansy. I dumped my potion manual firmly on the table as I took a seat next to them. I was so frustrated that my best friend asked me to switch seats for a disagreement that didn't even concern her. Millicient and Pansy laughed lightly at my behaviour.
