✑ᴀCHAPTER THIRTEEN - THE DATE
THE TENSION became palpable between the boys and the girls. All the students from each house as well as the guest schools were looking for a partner for the ball. I couldn't deny the insistent stares of the Durmstrangs at every meal, either. Being at their table, the newcomers suddenly took a greater interest in being around us. It was also the arrival of the Hogsmeade weekends. All the girls were planning the weekend, especially Tracey who had her date with Flint. For my part, I was rather disappointed. I would have thought Graham might come to me to hang out this weekend. But we hadn't spoken to each other since the first task. I hoped it was only in my head, but I felt like he was avoiding me. He had really pushed me to study with him and yet for a week he hadn't given me any news. And I knew full well that sixth graders had big exams in a week or two. Anyway, I knew very well I could have confronted him and asked him what his problem was, but as usual I was stubborn.
"Rosie, wake up. " Someone urged me. I groaned in response wanting to stay in my bed knowing full well that the weekend in Hogsmeade had finally arrived, I pulled the covers over myself. I knew that everyone would come together and that I would have to face Graham and Theo. That didn't sound like fun to me.
"Get up or I will personally ask Montague to come to wake you up!" Tracey ordered me with a nasty smile. She knew very well what she was doing, for I got up from my bed under her command. "I hate you. And I know you wouldn't dare, but I'm getting up because I know you're going to kill me if you're late for your date, " I growled.
"Aw, that's my best friend," she said, hugging me. I rolled my eyes and began to prepare for the day. Despite my marabout attitude, I had always loved days when I could dress in my own clothes. Let me tell you, I hated wearing this skirt every damn day. At least today I could dress in my trousers. As always, I pulled out on a cream sweater with a black merino wool cardigan, black pants and grabbed my coat, which was also black. It was pretty obvious that black was my favourite colour along with green for pride of my house.
Tracey, Daphne and I finally headed to the Great Hall which was rather quiet. As it was the weekend, most of the students got up at different times so it was less busy than usual. So we had breakfast between the three of us, talking about the ball which had become the subject on everyone's lips."I'm guessing Flint is going to ask you to be his date today, Tracey," Daphne taunted, winking at her.
"Well, he'd better do it or I'll ask him myself," Tracey retorted, taking a bite of her toast. "How about your date, Rosie? When is Montague going to ask you? Study dates soon?"
"Nope. It's been almost a week since we spoke." I replied, lowering my head over my eggs. Tracey sighed and put her hand on my shoulder. It was just odd that overnight, Montague stopped hanging out with or only try to chat with me.
