'KILL ME, PLEASE, KILL ME.'

It was a cold night, the room was dark. There was only their two bodies facing each other, lost in the gloom. She, for her part, melted into it and it made almost one with her.

"I can't. Do you realise what you're asking me? I could never do that. Anne, please." He begged. He had dreaded this moment all his life. The woman walked over him and entwined their fingers. He couldn't help but feel a shiver tickle every bit of his body. That feeling that had run through him since he had met her, the love of his life.

He thought she was the light.

"Look at me." She begged and he lifted his head to pierce her soul.  Her eyes, they weren't the same ones he had admired for years. They had turned black, weakened and were unrecognisable. They had no more life. " The woman standing in front of you is no longer your wife, Leopold. I am no longer the mother of your children. I no longer Anne. She disappears, I am nothing more than darkness. But listen to me, listen to your beloved wife one last time. ", a tear rolled down the cheek of Leopold who could no longer deny the facts.

"Kill me, kill me before I become this monster I couldn't bear to be. It's not a life to become a beast. I never want them to see me like this, do you hear me? I never want our kids to see me that way! Kill me, save me from my fate. I am so weak, I know the end is near." The man collapsed in front of his wife. On his knees, completely haunted by what she asked of him, he was crying beside her. He couldn't think his life had come to this point of no return.

He thought she was a miracle, but she was only her fate.

"How am I going to reveal this to our children? How am I going to live with myself?" She stroked his hair tenderly with what little strength she had left. The tears of her husband were unbearable, heartbreaking.

"You tell them their mother wasn't made for this life. That she was unable to be happy. That she's sick." She then took Leopold's hand. He lifted his head and she put her hands on either side of his face.

"You're going to have to let me go. Do me this favour if you really love me, relieve me from my sufferings." She kissed his forehead, but he continued to shed tears.

"I will love you forever, I would never be able to let you go." He whispered. He couldn't imagine what he was going to do. It was unimaginable.

"You will, Leopold. I promise you."

She was his soulmate and she was darkness.
