A/N: sorry for the late update! Or is it late? When did I last upload? I'm in a different world yall, I feel like time is not real. It's strange to say, but I want to start working again so that I have a sense of time again. LOL. Nevermind, I don't want my break to end...
Jeongin's POV
My heart sinks. I can hear the screaming of fans even from inside the terminal. I could see flashing lights up ahead, even if the cameras couldn't yet see me. I turned to Yeona to grab her hand and to hold her close to me, but she was already gone.
Yeona?
I turned around, looking to see where she had gone. I scanned the crowds of passengers deplaning and couldn't see her. As I looked around, my phone buzzed in my pocket. Looking at it, I see three texts.
My Manager: Jeongin, we have a car for you waiting at the usual spot. Looks like fans got wind about your arrival. Yeona and her parents are going to come a different route through the airport and go home via a different car. Just come here for now.
I scroll to the next message.
Yeona: J I'll see you at home, don't stress!
Chan: heads up I saw on twitter that stays know you're coming.
I sharply exhale in frustration. Then I breathe in and put a smile on my face. These are the people who made my career what it is, and I cannot be ungrateful. It's just...sometimes... No. You ungrateful bitch, just go out there and smile and wave and get your ass home and apologize to Yeona like your life depends on it.
Two long hours later, I'm home. It doesn't feel like I've come home though, simply because I had only lived in this place for a couple days in the middle of the tour.
"Jeongin?"
Yeona. Home. I drop all of my belongings by the door, and quickly kick off my shoes before entering the apartment. "Yeona! I'm home, oh god I'm so sorry for all that happened just now!"
We embrace each other, and our breathing syncs. It's like we had gotten out of a battlefield alive, not knowing if the other had made it. Dramatic, I know, but fans can either be adoring or terrifying, and right now? Terrifying.
I feel Yeona's phone buzz. And buzz. And continue to buzz in her pocket. The buzzing isn't rhythmic so I know it's just random notifications coming in one after another.
"Babe, your phone?" I say as I pull away. She quickly pulls it out, looks at the notification with a furrowed brow, and turns off the phone completely.
I furrow my own brow, and tilt my head. "Yeona? What's going on? Is everything.."
"It's fine! Don't worry about it," she says, but her lip is trembling a little. This happens when she's trying hard not to cry.I take her over to the couch and we sit down, my arms wrapping around her. "Honey, what's going on? You don't need to hide anything."
Tears start to fall over the edge of her eyes, and she quickly wipes them away, but they keep coming. She isn't making any sounds, no whimpering. She's still trying hard not to cry, unsuccessfully.
Finally, Yeona lets out a frustrated sigh, and says, "Fans have found me, connected me to you, and there's a lot of hate."
I frown and whip out my phone to see what she means. Opening my own twitter app, I see a hashtag trending: #JeonginsGirlfriend
Oh god.
"#JeonginsGirlfriend isn't even pretty idgi"
"What the fuck is this hashtag #JeonginsGirlfriend doing trending, y'all, I'm Jeongin's girlfriend. Who tf does she think she is?"
"I thought Jeongin was mine? #JeonginsGirlfriend more like #JeonginisMINE"
"I can't believe he would betray us like this, after all these years, tf? Who tf is this bitch?"
My heart sinks at the nasty behavior of these fans. Throughout these tweets there were some positive ones, "I'm glad that he gets some normalcy in his life!" "#JeonginsGirlfriend and Jeongin: be happy be free!"
"Yeona, oh my god...I'm so..."
"Don't say sorry. It's not your fault that this is classic Stan behavior."
"It's my fault that you were dragged into it," I moan to her, becoming increasingly upset about what I had done to an innocent person. She would never be able to escape this even further down her life. She would always be associated to this.
"Jeongin. Do you think I didn't know this would happen?"
"I know you did, but I didn't know how terribly it would feel for me too.""Are you.. kidding me right now?"
I look at her, confused at her sudden anger.
"What do you mean?"
"You are just trying to ... I don't know, quit, because it feels bad for you. It feels bad for you? It feels worse for me and I'm not backing out."
"Yeona you know I didn't mean it like that."
"No, I know, but it felt like. It felt like behavior of someone who suddenly apologizes to you just so that they feel better about themselves for having apologized. Do you know what I mean?"
I sigh, knowing I was wrong in what I said. "Yes, I understand. I'm sorry, I really am. You're right though, we can't just give up because...because a couple of teenage girls were a little jealous."
"Exactly. I can't just give you up to those teenage brats," she mumbles.
I smirk a little, and look at her face. "What's that?"
"Nothing I didn't say anything."
"I dunno, Yeona, I think I heard you say, what was it? Brats?"
She throws up her hands, rolls her eyes, and laughs a little. "....Well they are lil brats." She pouts, as I burst out laughing. She's not exactly wrong.
