He hits me and her. "Mama?" I asked about five years ago. "Why do you let him stay?" She looks at me. "Because he won't go away." She answers sadly. "It's hard you know that right, Mama?" I ask. She nods. "I'm sorry, Carre. I really am." She said that year. Are you really though? I now think to myself.
But now he's back, his smell...he smells of them. Of beer, the bar, and cigarettes...I hear his boots...smell the cigarette.
