I was sulking. I honestly didn't really care about the dance, I wanted to go with Carre that was all. I didn't want to go dancing or drink their fancy punch. I wanted to spend some time with Carre. Show her off. Prove that she was mine, no one else's. Mine. People don't understand, there are girls who go after a boy who's with somebody and vice versa. But I would never give her up. Leave her at the hands and feet on my father. That would be cruel. Some girls were getting desperate to be with me, it was pathetic.

I was ready, but she wasn't. Dang, how long does it take a girl to get ready? I understand they have to put on makeup and that stuff. I continued to think about girls and how long it takes them to get ready. I laughed here and there, but the conclusions I got where they take a long time to get ready. She was still in the bathroom. I went and laid down on the bed. I was really tired, The dance was in a few hours. I kept thinking about life and the dance before I knew it, I fell asleep.

I woke to someone playing with my hair. "Hi, sleepyhead," Carre said. I smiled a little bit. "Hi." I murmur, "How long was I asleep?" I asked. "A little bit." She shrugged. I saw she had the dress that I bought her. I jumped up, "The dance, did we miss the dance?" She laughs a little bit, "No. We didn't have about 20 more minutes." I lean back down. She was still playing with my hair. "Should we get going?" She rolls her eyes. "After you brush your hair then maybe we can go." She runs her fingers through my hair trying to straighten it out. "Okay. A few minutes." I get up to go to the bathroom.

"This is fancy." She says as we're walking into the school's gym. I don't spot Jax, but I see a few people from our classes. There's Anthony, Dean, Ayden, Samantha, and Audrey. We aren't really friends with them but I know that Samantha is with Dean and Audrey is with Anthony. I don't know who Ayden is with. Just then I see Lydia walk over to Ayden. Then it dawns on me. I look over at Carre and she looks happy. I see Lidya spare a few glances from Ayden.

I take Carre's hand and draw her towards me, a slow song comes on. I press my lips to her ear. "Come. Dance with me." She gives me a nod. I pull her to the dance floor. It was quiet except for the soft murmurs around us. "Do you hear that?" I asked her. She looked confused, "No, I didn't." I smile a little bit. "Exactly." She silently laughs. She lays her head on my shoulder. We stayed like that. The dance ended. We went back to our corner. "Hey I'm going to go grab some water, would you like anything?" She nods. "Some water please." I smile. "Coming right back." She smiled.
