I was slapped awake. What happened came in a flash. I walk into my house after school, and Raymond jumps me. I was tied up and blindfolded. A seizing pain shot up through my arms and legs. I can't really remember what happened. I can't see where I am. I can smell beer and cigarettes. It's best if I don't move in hopes that I can avoid being slapped. I think. I hear footsteps, I try not to let my breathing get shaker. "Carre. Carre." A faint voice said. It sounded familiar. I just can't place my finger on it. It wasn't Coyy nor Raymond, if it wasn't them then who was it then it hit me, Jax. It was Jax. But why? "Carre, I see you are awake. There's the one thing you and your mom have in common you're both very poor liars." The blindfold was tugged off my head. I blinked a few times then I could see clearly.
I could see Mama and Josh right there I didn't know what was happening. I could see Mama almost in tears, "Please Sir, don't do this she has no control over him. She didn't know what was happening. She didn't. Please don't do this." Mama pleaded I knew it was useless. Once he has his mind set to something that's it. I just wish he wouldn't. It's hard enough lying to people about what was happening here, I wish it would stop, soon. I know what's coming next. Wonder how I'm going to explain my new bruises to Coyy. He slaps me, then again, and again. I close my eyes.
Think happy thoughts, Carre. Coyy...being by Coyy. Last week, when we were sneaking around in class. I think while Raymond pokes me with his cigarette. Mom sits there watching, tears in her eyes. I mouth "Help." She shakes her head no and mouths "Sorry" while his friend makes her watch. She knows what comes next after this he and his friend go 'have fun' with I stay here. He pulls me close and whispers, "Stay her like a good girl and don't move, While I, Josh and your mother have fun, understand." I nod looking at him. He slaps me. "Look at the ground when your talkin' to me understand?" He bellows. I nod looking at the floor.
When they're gone I look over to see Jax unmoving paralyzed in fear. I shook my head when he tried to come to help me. He was confused, I understood that but right now I know myself was the second thing I needed to deal with, first was getting Jax out of here. He came over to me, "Leave. Now." It's enough but it was all I could manage. "If Coyy finds out I just left you here I'm dead, he'll kill me." I shook my head no. But of course, he didn't listen. I mustered up the rest of my energy, "Leave. Now. Save. Yourself. Please. Coyy. And. Understand. Leave. Now. Please." That was the last of my energy I could muster up. I fell unconscious.
When I woke, I was in a soft comfy bed. I was covered up the scent was familiar, I can't believe it, how could he. I rolled around and saw eyes, I realized who the eyes belong to, a smile crept on my lips. He smiled a little bit too. We stayed like that for a while. I didn't dare to speak. Much less I didn't want to. My arm was falling asleep I tried to move it when I did it hurt. "Don't move anything you're really hurt. Shh." Coyy said I rolled my eyes. "How did I get here?" I asked. "Jax saw you passed out, he picked you up and carried you over to here. I've been here at least two hours since." He smiled a little bit. I just noticed how red his eyes were, I ran my finger over his cheeks. He blushed a little bit. I smiled. "Why did you move me, I could've handled it, know I'm even more dead than before." He smiled, "Because Jax was right. I would've killed him he left you there like that." I rolled my eyes, it was the only thing I could do without a seizing pain through my body. "I'm hungry, can you please make me something to eat?" I asked him, "I will if you stay here." Coyy gets up. "Wait, can you at least help me sit up?" He shook his head and walked out. I put my arms by my sides, and push myself up against his pillows.
"What did I tell you?" He asked. "You told me a lot, like how your not your father and you love me, and you won't leave me, and you told me 'Don't move until I get back.'" I inmate his voice. "All true but if I remember correctly you told me that I'm not your father and I was talking about the not moving till I get back part." I roll my eyes. "Can I have a sandwich or did you claim that?" He gives me a sandwich. "Thank you very much. Do you have one?" He lifts up his sandwich. "Where's Jax's didn't he bring me over here?" I looked around and saw no one. "He went for a drive, he'll be back in a minute or two." I hear the front door open then close, I tense a little bit. Coyy notices my sudden alertness, "It's okay you're safe. We're at my Grand-mére's I called her telling her you needed a place to stay away from Raymond she understands what it's like, I told her everything than Jax brought you here just after she left from work. I packed a bag with my clothes and I stop by your place and pick up some of your things," I looked at him funny he leaned in close and whispered, "I think you'll like some of the things I picked." I hear the door to the room open I pull the closes the blanket up to my chin. I see a lady in her sixties or seventies walk in she has brownish hair, I see some of Coyy in her. "Coyy how are you? I see you still have your key." She smiled. "Yes, Grand-mére I do. Never leave the house without it." She glances over at me. "Who do we have here?" She walks over to me, she reaches out to feel my forehead, I flinched.
She turned to Coyy, "He really has messed her up good this time, hasn't he?" He nods. I take a bite of my sandwich. "Is that all you could make her?" She looks at Coyy, he blushes. "I figured that'll hold her over 'till you got home and could make some of your famous foods." He walked over to me and placed his hand on my forehead, I didn't flinch that time. She looks over at him in amazement. "She trusts me, I haven't done anything to break that yet. Also, you're new to her she just got back from Raymond." He lays back on the edge of the bed, I scoot over to give him some actual space. "It's okay she won't hurt you." He puts his arm around my shoulders, I lean in and rest my head on his chest. His Grand-mére left to make us some real food. "Your Grand-mére is really kind. I wish I didn't flinch so much," I said. "She understands what it's like when my mom died. He would beat on me sometimes, he'd claim that I looked so much like her and say it was my fault and go on and on about different things. After a while I would retreat here. She would treat my bruises and everything else than I would go back then about 2 weeks later the same thing would start again. The most I stayed here was about 2 months tops. I've grown closer to her over those years."
"Dinner's ready," Coyy's Ground-mére called. "Umm, wonder what she's making."
