"Who are you?" She asks me. "Mama, this is Coyy. Raymond's son." Carre answers. Her eyes go wide. "Mama, he's fine. Different from him, in so many ways." Carre says. She slips her arm around my waist and smiles at me. I smile back.
After we had a conversation about me and Raymond. I leave the room to go to the bathroom. To let Carre and her mom catch up. Maybe, just maybe, Carre will go to school on Monday. I'm really excited to go to the dance with Carre. I slowly walk back to the room. At the counter, I recognize Raymond. Anger boils up inside me.
"Raymond!" I yell. He turns around to see me. "What are you doing here?" I ask him. "I was going to check up on her. How is she?" He asked. "She is alive, and awake. And I'm pretty sure she doesn't want to see you!" I shout. "But I want to apologize. Can I do that?" He asked walking away. "No," I say loud enough to where he can hear me but I'm not yelling. "What was that?" He turned in disbelief. "I think you heard me pretty well," I say. Looking up at him. "Excuse me, Sir," I say with an annoying nag to the last word. "Come back here again. I'll personally call security. Unless she wants you. That's very unlikely. Good-bye Raymond." I say holding my poker face well, to hide the rage boiling underneath. "When you come home, you'll be toast." He growled through clenched teeth. I head back to the room.
"What took so long?" Carre asked when I closed the door. "I ran into Raymond," I responded. She looked questioningly at me. "Well, where is he?" She looked around. "Possibly cussing me out in his car. Or looking for 20 different ways to make sure I die slowly or alone. Or both." I said, my words leaking with sarcasm. I sat down, sighing heavily. "What do you do?" She asked me to come over and sit on my lap. "Well I supposed I told him not to visit or I will personally tell the security guards. Then told him off. Now I'm in for a treat." I said with as much optimism as I could muster. She rolls her eyes. "Guess what?" I asked her. "What?" She asked. "I'm a dead kid. By the time this ends." I said. She laughed. We finished off the night catching her mom up on our relationship. She fell asleep early so we talked about what happened in the hall. We fell asleep shortly after Ms Búrra.
I wake up, it's 7 o'clock. Carre is still on my lap. I've gotten a tad bit used to it. I shake her awake. "Time for school sleepy head," I whispered trying not to awaken Ms Búrra. "Wait who said I'm going to school?" She asked sleepily. "I did. And it's Monday. 4 more days 'till the dance." I say. "Well, I am going to need clothes." She said. "I can buy you some. Let's go." I said picking her up. I swing her over my shoulder.
"Put me down. I can walk!" Carre says. I put her down. "So where are we going?" I asked her. "Well, first let's hit...the mall. Do I have a price range?" She asks. "Every item must be under 100 dollars, total...500 dollars. Sound good?" She smiles up at me. "Sounds perfect." I smile back down at her. "Let's go," I say smiling.
We get to the mall and her eyes light up. I smile. "Where do you want to go first?" I whisper into her ear. She looks up at me and shrugs. "While we're here, would you like to go dress shopping, for Friday?" I asked. She nods. "Let's go knock out that dress, first," I say.
