She tried to get up off the bed. I went over and pushed her shoulders down, "You stay." I didn't want her in more pain than necessary. I was frustrated that he would do such a thing. When she's asleep I would just pace around the bedroom. When I was tired I would lay down by her and fall asleep careful not to put any pressure over her. "I don't want to stay here, I've been here forever." She said stretching out the last word. "You've only been here thirty-six hours at least forty-eight at the most. You're fine." I walked over here. "Stay here." I looked over at the door. "Stay here." She imitates my voice. I gave her a look. She rolled her eyes. I walked out.
I meet Grand-mére walking around, no pacing. "So, how is she?" I looked at her. "She's good but I'm being overprotected just a little bit. Don't you think?" She rolled her eyes. "Hello! Can I get some food! I'm famished!" She yelled. "What did you make?" I asked her. "I made waffles, no actual humans can dislike waffles," Grand-mére said. I loved waffles, never met a person who didn't. "I'll take a whole waffle, she probably would too." I flashed a grin. "Coyy!" I heard my name, I smiled and walked out. "I'm back. I'm here." I said. She smiled. I sat by her on the bed and pulled her to my lap. "Ouch." She jumps. I pull her closer, "You called my name, what's up?" She leaned down and rested her head on my shoulder, "I got cold, I needed my personal teddy bear/heater here to keep me warm." I grinned, she looked up. She kissed me, she broke for air, but I wouldn't let her. As soon as she stopped, I took over.
She was asleep, we kissed, then talked while we were talking Grand-mère came in to tell us waffles were ready, we took a break to eat when we got back we kissed so more, then stopped, Carre fell asleep as soon as we were done. I opened up a book, I finished 'The Lightning Thief,' it was a good book, I really enjoyed it. Now I'm on to a new book, 'The Hunger Games,' by Suzanne Collins. I heard great things about the book so far. I opened the first page. When I wake up the other side of the bed is cold. My fingers stretch out, seeking Prim's warmth... warmth but finding the rough canvas cover of the mattress. She must have had bad dreams and climbed in with our mother.
I stopped there and I was tired and the words were starting to blur together because of it. I didn't want to read a book when the words started to blur together, you remember nothing that way. People ask you how the book is going and what it's about, but you can't tell them when the words are all one string. I was tired, I leaned my head back on the pillow by Carre's. I debated whether I should leave or not. I drifted off there before I could move.
I woke up, Carre was looking at me. Her eyes said she was up for a while. My hand was around her waist. She smiled, I smiled back and tugged her closer. So we were nose to nose. The clock on the nightstand said it was 12:37 in the morning. She didn't move. My eyes traveling around her face, landed on a bruise starting to surface on her jaw. My jaw clenched, we'll have to stay here for a while. I don't think Raymond is very happy that she "snuck out", but he has no choice, sooner or later he is going to kill her. Like he did with the one before her.
He got so mad at her he punched her in the gut, but she was never taken to the hospital, after a few punches and hits in the same spot caused internal bleeding, that was never dealt with. Or something like that, he never told me. She died a few weeks later. He never talked to anyone about this, but I was there. Her autopsy report said why. We ran away, they never found us but I don't think they cared enough to anyway. Her parents were long gone, she was an only child and her cousins and other relatives got into a fight about something, so she was never really cared about. It's fascinating how men can treat their wives and girlfriends. They get upset, but the one I'm sorry later, it's fine.
I looked back at Carre. She seemed happy, her eyes were wide open, but so were mine. "Carre?" I whispered, she looked up at me. "What?" I looked down my eyes wandering to her lips every now and then. "Are you hungry? Cause I'm famished. We could go grab a midnight snack. But we'll have to be really quiet." She smiled. I smiled back. "But I'm not allowed to move. You got very frustrated last time I tried to move." I gave her a look. "Are you making go in the kitchen alone...at night...with shadows dancing all around?" I asked her.
"So if you say I'm allowed to move, then I go with you." I smiled and shrugged. How bad could it be? "Let's go." I helped her up. Her eyes grew wide every now and then when she was in pain but she didn't make a peep. "Hop on my back. You're in obvious pain. Hop on." I turned around, she hopped on. She draped her arms around my shoulders and rested her chin on my shoulder, I headed off to go find a midnight snack.
