Chapter 8 - Free?

Law and Corazon were waiting for Loralei to come back, but Loralei had been gone for a long time, which made them think she might have gotten lost or something must have happened, so the two got worried.

So now they were walking, trying to follow the trails that had already been covered by the quick falling snow.

"She's alright right?" Law asked worried.

"Hopefully," Corazan said, unsure, they only walked for a few minutes when a marine officer with a octopus stuck to his face appeared, "Vergo?!"

At the sight of Corazon, Vergo's body was metallic again. He punched Corazon who tossed Law so he wouldn't get hurt.

Law landed in the snow in shock, Vergo was the person who was doing a secret mission right?

Corazon coughed up blood, but got back up, "Where's Loralei?"

"The research you got, if the navy got a hold of it, it'd be the end of our family! All of our plans would end up in ashes!" He kicked Corazon back.

"You're Vergo?! Don't hurt Corazon! You'll kill him!" Law said.

"Vergo? You're the brat they got from the white town? Law was it? They also had the cursed girl- Ah it was the girl I threw off the cliff," Law and Corazon's eyes widen in shock, "Well, if you had heard of me, then you should know," Vergo punched Law multiple times, making him fly back, "It's Vergo-SAN to you!"

"Law!" Corazon yelled, worried.

Vergo turned back to Corazon and started beating him up, "2nd generation Corazon! Its absurd how lax our security has gotten, not only letting soft brats join, but you, from the day you disappeared from when you were 8 years old, to the day you reappeared in front of us 14 years later," Law got back up and tried to stop Vergo to no avail, "Doffy never suspected you just because you were his brother!" He knocked Corazon back again towards the now unconscious Law.

Vergo was on the transponder snail, talking to Doflamingo, not keeping his eyes on the two 'unconscious' people. Corazon took law in his arms and was about to run until he heard.

"Loralei? Was she blonde? I'm sorry Doffy, I threw her off the cliffs, she's probably dead if you say she is a devil fruit user," Vergo said.

Law and Corazon's eyes widen in shock, 'Loralei is dead?!'

Corazon ran away with Law in his arms and the snow that quickly fell covered their tracks as they ran. Law held on Corazon tightly, "Was he telling the truth? Is...Loralei dead?" His voice was shaky and Corazon could also feel himself about to cry but he knew he had to make sure Law would survive.

"I," he felt like he was about to stutter and stopped himself, "I don't know," he said, truthfully.

They reached a place with many chests and Corazon had now tired himself out when they saw many strings spreading out to make something that looked like a birdcage.

"What is that?" Law asked.

"It's probably one of Doffy's skills," Corazon said seriously while thinking, 'Of course, the only way Vergo would had already known about the letter is if he had ran into it, I wouldn't had guess his secret mission was to infiltrate the Navy, what horrible luck, I hope, by some God, to help Loralei, she is just a child, and with a horrible environment, no wonder Doffy took her in,'

"Law, they won't find you here, stay in here and don't move," Corazon said, placing Law in one of the chests.

"Cora-san? Will you really be alright?" Law asked, not wanting to lose another person all over again. He still didn't believe Loralei is dead nor does he want that idea to sink in.
