Chapter 14 - Interlude

8 Years Later - Loralei's Point of View

I can't believe it, its just as sis Kimiko said, Law really is a famous pirate now. He's going to become a warlord soon huh? It'll be my first time meeting him in so long!

"Loralei! Get out here, your going to miss the meeting!"

I put the newspaper along with the wanted poster into my drawer and grabbed a brush and started brushing my hair.

"LORALEIIIII," Henry, a fellow marine officer started yelling into my room.

"SHUT UP HENRY, THR MEETING DOESNT START UNTIL 50 MORE MINUTES, I'M A GROWING LADY, LET ME PREPARE!"

Honestly, being surrounded by all these muscles are annoying, I barely get any time to myself now, because I'm either training, getting yelled at, or sent onto missions.

It feels like such a short time that I've been here. I kinda regret not meeting Law sooner, but I don't regret joining the marine. I mean, Corazon was a marine, so being a marine isn't bad with that logic. Plus Sengoku is also  very kind to me, its probably cause Corazon was like a son to him, well, Corazon was like a proper dad to me, although it felt more like he was more a dad for Law. Law was coddled by him! Well it was probably because he had to cure Law, but still, its like Law is his son and I'm like adopted or a daughter in law or something.

I finished brushing my hair and set the brush down on my desk, and then grabbed a scrunchie, tying my hair up. It has been so many years, and I still haven't cut my hair once, people say its getting too long, but I don't want to cut all of this precious time I spent growing it. Sure my head can feel heavy but its not that bad. Its like having a...heavy hat on. Well that's impractical-

"Loralei, the meeting has been moved forward, we are having it early," Leon's voice softly warned me.

"Alright, I'll be outside soon brother," I got up and grabbed my marine coat and pulled it onto my back and then I walked out, greeting my elder brother.

"You look good," he says that everyday.

"I look the same as yesterday brother," I said, walking with him.

"Don't girls like that compliment though? Being complimented everyday?"

I sighed, "You'll never get married huh?"

"Eh?! What's that supposed to mean?!"

"Do you think girls would love the same compliment everyday? Wow, your hair looks the same as yesterday! Its pretty?"

"Yeah?"

I sighed, not wanting to go back on that topic, "What are we going to be having a meeting about?"

"The capture of Portgas D. Ace," he said.

I couldn't help perked my ears up, Kimiko and I usually chat a lot, she has told me a lot about straw hat and his brother, "What's going to happen to him?"

"A public execution," he said.

"Wait what? Didn't we NOT want to go to war with an emperor? Why are we killing his son?! We never went after Kimiko for the same reason," I blurted out.

"I don't know the reason either, but we are discussing battle plans, strategies and the positions of where we should be," he said.

"We are going to be there as well?"

"Yeah, we are important assets," Leon said.

Its true we are strong but Sengoku had been hiding us a for a while. Mostly because I'm a former evil pirate and also because of my devil fruit. As long as I'm on the side of the marine, no one can do anything to me, or so it seems.
