Chapter 16

"I've brought a friend." The old man said and a girl was thrown in. "Maki?" Kaiyo called out glancing up. "Kaiyo? Is this where you've been?" Maki asked and Kaiyo nodded. "How long have I been missing?" She asked. "A week. We thought that you left without telling us again. We've been really worried. Mirai hasn't been coming to school either." Maki answered and Kaiyo nodded. "I'm sorry that you've been brought into this." She said and Maki walked over to her. "You're hurt. I'll heal you." She said but Kaiyo pushed her away. "You'll get hurt. Don't." She said and Masaru walked in. "Have you made your decision?" He asked but Kaiyo didn't answer. 

"I asked if you made your decision." He said pulling her up by her hair. "Piss off." Kaiyo said looking him in the eyes. "Kaiyo!" Maki said as Kaiyo was thrown back to the ground. "You're just like Yume. A disgrace and disappointment." He said and kicked her before walking out. "Don't insult my mother." Kaiyo said crouching over. "What? Are you talking back to me?" He asked and walked back in. "I said don't insult my mother. You can insult me all you want but you won't insult my mother." Kaiyo said, pissing Masaru off. "Fuck off! You and your mother are a disgrace!" He said kicking her against the wall. "I said don't insult my mother, you pig." Kaiyo said standing back up. "What did you call me?" He said and held her up by her collar. "What you are. A pig." She said and was punched. "No matter how many times you beat me down, I will get back up. Just like my mother, you can't break me." Kaiyo said and was kicked again. "I was told not to kill you but I can just say it was an accident." Masaru said and threw Kaiyo against the wall. "Kaiyo!" Maki called out. 

"I forgot that you're here. It's your turn." He said walking over to Maki. "Leave her alone." Kaiyo said grabbing onto his pants leg. "Don't touch me with your filthy hands." Masaru said stepping on Kaiyo's hand causing her to scream in pain. "Be a good girl and stay down." He said and went to grab Maki but Kaiyo grabbed his arm. "You said that I take after my mother. You should know that I don't take orders easily, you fucking inbred." She said and pushed Masaru's switch. "I'll kill you." He said and picked Kaiyo up by the throat. "Kaiyo!" Maki called out but Kaiyo was busy struggling to get free. "Stop it! You'll kill her!" Maki said with her tears streaming out. "Obviously." Masaru said with an indescribable expression.   

"Stop!" Maki screamed hitting Masaru. "Shut up." He said smacking her down. "I said don't touch her." Kaiyo mumbled grabbing Masaru's arm. "Wait your turn. I'm almost done." He said looking at Maki. "You will not touch her." Kaiyo mumbled getting his attention. "Die already." Masaru said and hit arm that was holding Kaiyo froze. "Then die." Kaiyo said and lit him on fire. "Kaiyo stop. You'll kill him." Maki said grabbing her shoulder. "He can die. He hurt you. He hurt my mother. He hurt my family." Kaiyo said and people ran into the cell. "Kaiyo!" She heard and looked up. "Papa." She said and Subaru placed his hands on her. "It's alright. You shouldn't bloody your hands with this filth." He said and hugged her. "Let's go. Your mother is waiting for you outside. You're Maki-chan right?" He asked looking at Maki. "Yes sir." She said and Subaru hugged her. "I'm sorry I'm late. Your parents are worried." He said and stood up. "Let's go." He said picking up Kaiyo and grabbing Maki's hand. 

"Kaiyo!" Yume called out running up to them. "Mama. I fought back. I did good right?" Kaiyo asked looking at her. "You did great. I'm so proud of you." Yume said wiping some blood from Kaiyo's face. "Maki-chan I'm so glad that you're safe also. I'm proud of you for staying strong." Yume said hugging Maki. "Thank you for helping her." Yume whispered. "I didn't do anything." Maki said resting her head on Yume's shoulder. "You did more than you realize." Yume said and Masaru along with ten other people were brought out of the house. "Dad." Yume said looking at him. "I wonder how your siblings are doing, Yume." He said smiling. "Don't talk. Get in the van." The policeman said pushing him. "Kaiyo?" Subaru asked and Yume looked at them. "What's wrong?" She asked worried. "She's not waking up. Ambulance!" Subaru said and the paramedics ran over. "Get her to the Nishikino hospital." Maki spoke up and they nodded. "I'm sorry but you'll have to come with us. You're also hurt and should get checked out." A paramedic said and Maki nodded. "Very well. I'll see you at the hospital." She said looking at the two parents before getting into the ambulance. "Please be alright."

"Yuuki-san." Mr. Nishikino called out as he walked towards the two in the waiting room. "Is Kaiyo alright?" Subaru asked and he nodded. "She's fine. Her right hand is broken. She has a slight concussion but she'll be alright. It's a good thing that you found her when you did. The man that was hurting her was choking her. She has bruising around her neck but nothing permanent. She should be able to leave in about two days." He said and they relaxed a little. "What about your daughter? Is she alright?" Subaru asked and he nodded. "She was just smacked. Your daughter saved her before anything happened to her." He said and they nodded again. "Can we see her?" Yume asked and Mr. Nishikino nodded. "Of course. She's in room 301." He said and walked away. 

"Maki-chan!" Honoka called out running into the hospital. "I'm fine. You should be worried about Kaiyo." Maki said looking at them. "Where is she?" Umi asked. "I'm about to head there. I heard that she's asleep still and her parents are in there with her." Maki said and they nodded. 

"Maki-chan are you alright?" Yume asked when she walked into the room. "I'm alright thank you for your concern." She said and Yume smiled. "Kaiyo's still asleep. You all can stay in here until she wakes up." She said and Subaru walked in. "I got you coffee." He said handing Yume a can. "Thanks Subaru." She said and looked back at Kaiyo. "Thank you for taking care of Kaiyo." Subaru said smiling at the girls. "It's no problem. She's fun to be around." Nozomi said and Kaiyo started to wake up.
