It was around eight or nine in the morning when Rocky stirred. He was out cold once he knew Mordecai was asleep. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he stretched and sat up slowly so he wouldn't disturb his partner. The poor thing was exhausted and he looked so peaceful lying there snoring softly. The tabby realized he was still nude and had been all night, usually, he wouldn't really care but it was a tad chilly outside the blankets, so when he got up off the bed he put his underwear on at least so he could head to the bathroom somewhat clothed.
After finishing his business in the water closet he stepped out and yawned again. A loud ringing startled him from the other room, it was the telephone.
"Ugh... still not used to that noise..."
The tabby grumbled to himself. He didn't want to answer it, since this wasn't his residence and didn't want to raise any suspicion against Mordecai, so he left it. It's a good thing he closed the bedroom door before he left for the restroom.
He waited until the phone stopped ringing to return to Mordecai's side. When back in the bedroom, he didn't want to disturb the tuxedo, so he took his time slowly sliding under the covers again to lie down next to him. He placed a hand on Mordecai's cheek, running his thumb across it softly.
"You're so beautiful..."
He whispered to himself, starting to purr softly.
Mordecai went undisturbed for another two hours at least, finding that he was beginning to gravitate into the conscious world at around noon. He'd had one hell of an evening and the rest was much needed. He would usually move around in his sleep from time to time, but he didn't move much that night likely due to how enervated he was.
Feeling the presence at his side, the black and white cat took some air deep into his lungs and pulled himself further out of his slumber.
The pain from his injury was still very much there, but it wasn't unbearable.
Prying his eyes open, he could see the blur of familiar colors. Mordecai blinked a couple of times to clear the tiredness from his vision so that he could confirm that the comforting image of Rocky was indeed beside him.
The tabby hadn't fallen asleep again, so when he heard the deep inhale next to him he slowly opened his eyes, meeting two beautiful jade ones. He still had a hand on Mordecai's head, he scratched lightly as the other woke.
"Morning gorgeous."
He smiled softly at the other man.
"Sleep well?"
Mordecai didn't verbally reply, only closed his eyes, leaned into the touch he was given, and hummed with a small purr of his own. It was too soon for him to use his voice, so he hoped that his actions sufficed.
"That was rather adorable."
The tabby giggled, blushing a little. He leaned in to give Mordecai a kiss on the cheek.
"Let me know if you'd like help up to use the restroom or anything. Oh, and your telephone rang earlier. I didn't answer it, nor did I want to bother you with that information until you were part of the waking world."
He continued to rub Mordecai's cheek soothingly.
Mordecai's eyes opened again at the mention of a missed call, raising a brow. With another inhale, he finally worked to find his voice.
"If it was important, they'll try again later on..."
He muttered into the pillow before shifting to properly face the tabby.
"I'd like to apologize again... for disturbing you when I arrived."
"There's no need to apologize for anything. I'd have been upset if you didn't wake me for something like that. I'm here for you Mordecai, you know that."
The tabby exhaled.
"I do, and I appreciate it."
Of course, Mordecai still felt horrible about the whole situation. It was supposed to be a peaceful evening with just the two of them, but then the call had to take place and... now that he thought more about it, how did Nico get that information?
"You wouldn't happen to have relayed anything written in the letter I wrote to anyone, have you?"
