The remainder of their time on their double-date was spent with Rocky playing his violin and some more chatter amongst the four men about nothing in particular.
It had become later than anyone had intended for it to get, so Mordecai wasn't up for a shared meal between all four of them. Not to mention Anthony and Alastor still had to pack for their travels the next day.Although Rocky was sad he didn't get to have dinner with his newfound friends, he understood that Mordecai had more interaction with strangers than he ever had in his life that day, so it was asking a lot of him already. Saying his tear-filled goodbyes, the tabby hugged Anthony one last time before parting ways.
Dinner with Mordecai alone was rather nice though, the man was much more relaxed after a long day with his guard up. Rocky would have to remind himself to give the man some extra love the next morning through shoulder rubs.
Once again, Mordecai slept with his shirt off to make sure his wound got the air it needed. Lying on his stomach with his arms folded under his pillow, he slept peacefully with Rocky clinging to his left side.
Thanks to how early they had gone to bed, the tuxedo found himself waking up shortly after the sun had risen. He wasn't upset about it since he'd gotten plenty of rest but also knew that this meant that he could stay in bed and watch over the tabby.
He turned his head and looked at the other man through blurred morning vision and sighed, loving that he didn't have to wake up alone that morning. After a day full of excitement and company, the tabby slept like a log. Even as the sun rose, he was still out cold. Snuggling up to Mordecai, his face was buried in the man's fur and purring peacefully. He did not move when the tuxedo had turned his head.
Mordecai began to blink the vision into focus so that he could see the tabby properly.
Inhaling, he shifted his position enough to be able to bring his arm around Rocky and hold him in an awkward yet comfortable way.
The tuxedo closed his eyes again and exhaled, his ears flicking a bit at the faint street noise.Rocky felt the warm presence of his lover's arms curl around him. His purring picked up pace and reflexively, he stretched and curled back around Mordecai.
"Morning."
He said half asleep, kissing the man on the top of his head."Morning..."
Mordecai grumbled through a deep purr that had begun not even a minute prior, then kissed Rocky's shoulder in return before relaxing again."Hmmm, you're gorgeous, Mordecai."
The tabby placed multiple kisses along his lover's forehead."You would know all about that, wouldn't you..."
The tuxedo replied with a sigh, allowing himself to be carefully smothered by his partner.Rocky blushed at the compliment. He brought his hands up and lightly squeezed Mordecai's shoulders, bringing out his claws to gently drag down his back in a soothing scratching motion.
Mordecai's purring increased in volume and pace, giving Rocky a gentle squeeze. A moment later, he opened his eyes again and sighed.
"I know we've already discussed this, but I hope you genuinely enjoyed the events that took place yesterday...""I had a wonderful day, Mordecai. Thank you so much for joining us, it means the world to me."
The tabby placed more kisses on the tuxedo.
"It'll be the last time you'll have to do something like that for a long time after all."
He chuckled.Mordecai's chin tilted up at all of the kisses and scrunched his face a bit.
"Mm... good. I'm glad we got that over with when we did..."
He said as he returned some of the scratches. He wanted to say more, but he wasn't quite awake enough yet to put the right words in their proper formations of sense.
