The next morning, Mordecai was up fairly early while Rocky remained asleep. The tuxedo knew that his partner needed all the rest he could get and with no solid plans involving the tabby, Mordecai let him rest as he got up and started his day.
When Rocky awoke, the tuxedo was just getting ready to start his routine kitchen cleaning, so that was put off for a while so that he could make sure Rocky was washed, fed, and occupied.
Mordecai then changed his attire to better suit the day's tasks and not a moment later, there was a knock on the door.
Because Mordecai knew to expect someone around this time, he answered the door without hesitation.
"Good day, Mr. McMurray. Please, come in."
"Thanks."
Calvin nodded and stepped into the apartment with his cousin's violin case in hand.
"Rocky's awake, right?"
"Yes, he has been for about an hour and a half now. Your structure had to be taken down but you are welcome to rebuild. All of your supplies have been left in the room. I'll also remind you that noise is to be minimal until later in the day, so the violin must not be played."
Mordecai explained as he walked with Calvin through the apartment to where Rocky was sitting in bed, waiting anxiously.
Rocky was excited to see his cousin walk through the door. He knew Mordecai would be busy today with his crazy cleaning routine, so the company would be nice. Even though he wished that company would just be Mordecai and his undivided attention.
"Hey Freckle! Thanks for bringing my violin!"
The tabby's tail swished excitedly. It was already getting old having to sit in bed all day. Rocky was used to being up and about for Miss M or the band or playing for small crowds at the park. Just exhuming energy in general.
Calvin nodded and set the case down.
"Sure. Did you want to rebuild the fort? Mr. Heller said it was okay."
He suggested, looking at the neatly folded pile of sheets and blankets.
"If there's anything you need, don't hesitate to ask. Remember the noise level. I don't have time to remind you throughout the day."
Mordecai stated before turning to leave the two to their own devices.
"The fort does sound fun...."
When Mordecai reminded Rocky of the noise level he decided against the fort. He knew the two of them would only get carried away and giggle loudly like idiots.
"Let's not with the fort. I feel we would get loud on accident, and I don't want to upset Mordecai."
Rocky looked up to the ceiling as if it had the answer to the question of what they were going to do today. It seemed that the tabby was at a loss for ideas when getting up and moving around wasn't an option.
Calvin stood quietly as he thought, scratching his neck a bit.
"Um... we could listen to the radio and play cards again? That's pretty quiet. Or maybe we could set up in the lounge instead? It's away from the wall shared with the neighbor so I'm sure we could be at least a bit louder there."
"Oh! I like that idea. We could be a little louder in there."
Rocky slid to the edge of the bed and gestured for the orange tabby to come to help him up. Too bad he wasn't as strong as Mordecai. Being toted around was quite fun.
"As long as you don't mind doing all the grunt work again, and carrying all the stuff to the lounge from the bedroom."
Calvin helped his cousin up and made sure he was steady enough before they started walking toward the parlor.
"I knew that would be the case and prepared for it."
He said, having Rocky sit on the couch for the time being.
"So, blankets, radio, cards, violin, chairs, and... I think that's all?"
Mordecai peered out of the kitchen once he was alerted of the presence in the other room just to make sure that nothing was happening that Rocky shouldn't have been doing, then went back to his chores. He supposed it was fine for them to be there. It would just be easier for him to keep tabs on them and make sure they weren't causing any trouble.
