Chapter 10

Growling

Gray, Y/n and Zach were alerted by the faint sound. "Um... Nothing's getting in here, right?" Gray asked worriedly.

Y/n squeezed his hand, "We're safe when we're together.." Y/n reassured the apprehensive boy beside her, wrapping an arm around his shoulder, but it did little to ease Gray's concern.

Y/n met Zach's eyes. Zach nodded, telling her he had this. "Hey." He grabbed Gray's attention, "Do you remember that ghost at the old house? Do you remember? The one in the garage?"

Y/n smiled at the fond memory, remembering that day like it was yesterday. "I protected you, right?" Zach asked his eerily quiet younger brother.

Zach and Y/n's gazes returned to one another, thinking Gray was still down but the boy was recalling the memory, "You made a battle ax... out of a ruler and a paper plate."

Zach smiled at him, "Yeah." He placed his hand on Gray's back in comfort and in the process, intertwined his fingers with Y/n, "See, nothing's gonna get you while I'm around. Okay?"

Gray, however, recalled the memory from earlier upon hearing Zach's words, "But you're not always gonna be around."

Zach's smile faded slightly, "Yeah, well—"

Zach squeezed Gray's shoulder, "Hey. We're brothers, okay? We'll always be brothers and we'll always come back to one another."

Y/n looked away, her eyes pricked with tears at Zach's words. Being an only child was hard but Gray filled that void for her so, she wasn't ecstatic that she'll be leaving in two years.

"No matter what." Zach reassured Gray and this.. this calmed Gray's nerves about being left alone to deal with the pre-divorce or post-divorce of his parents.

"No matter what." Gray nodded.

"No matter what." Zach pulled Gray close to him and pressed his forehead against the younger's forehead. Y/n rubbed Gray's back comfortingly with her thumb, still looking away.

Zach rested his chin on top of Gray's head and looked at Y/n who finally faced him. She smiled softly at him, her eyes speaking so much.. about how much she adores him, loves him and cares for him.

Zach's own eyes spoke to her, his admiration for her was through the roof and that smile.. that smile was his kryptonite.

Zach lifted her hand to his lips, pressing a gentle kiss on her knuckles. Y/n froze for a moment but quickly regained her composure, her smile growing wider.

They knew what each other felt for one another.. they knew it officially now. The next step.. well? Had to be done later which Zach would ensure would be done.

Owen was holding a piece of flesh ripped by the Indominous Rex from herself and went around each raptor to have them sniff their target.

The raptors growled and snorted at that as Owen clicked something to inform the raptors that this was their target.

Everyone were preparing for the battle ahead.

In the control room, Lowery was observing the screen and watching as Owen got the raptors ready for this fight.

Hoskins leaned over Lowery, "Awesome."
