Chapter 1

A bird flew right at Y/n who was standing infront of the Mitchell family home on her phone, she flinched and glared at the creature, a woodpecker.

Y/n's backpack was strapped onto her back and her hands were resting on her suitcase handle.

Y/n may have overpacked but it was better to be overprepared than underprepared, right?

"Freaking birds." Y/n groaned in frustration. Karen, Zach's mom, laughed at the girl's silliness.

They were still waiting for her sons to finish getting packed and ready to go. Karen grew frustrated when she checked the time, they were going to be late if they didn't get down right now.

"BOYS! LETS DO THIS!" Karen called out from outside the house. The blonde met Y/n's eyes, silently communicating her frustration.

Y/n cracked a smile at Karen.

Karen made her way upstairs to her youngest son's room to find Gray looking at dinosaurs in his viewmaster toy.

"Gray?" Karen entered the room, "Honey, what are you doing? What is this here?" She asked, taking the device from him and setting it aside.

"Let's go, come on honey, your flight is in two hours" Karen urged on but Gray replied with a fact, "Dane county airport is thirty-six minutes away, sixty with traffic."

"How many minutes to get your little butt in the van?" The mother teased, wrapping her arm around him and bringing him downstairs with his suitcase in hand.

"Don't forget to feed the monster under my bed." Gray told his mother. Karen cocked her head in confusion, "Feed the monster under the bed?"

"Yes" Gray confirmed and rushed off to the van, not paying attention to his brother and Y/n who were pushing each other around.

"Would you stop it, Zachary!" Y/n rolled her eyes, having the final push since she practically ran to the Mitchell family van.

"Come back here!" Zach ordered, pushing his way into the car and taking his seat beside Y/n. He tugged on her hair.

"Zachary!"

"Y/n!"

And thus, the bickering continued. Gray groaned in frustration, opting to cover his ears to muffle the noise.

Zach's parents turned around with amused looks on their faces at the sight of Y/n and their son trying to step on the other's converses.

The both of them stopped when Gray nudged Y/n and she found Karen and Scott observing them.

Karen met her son's eyes, "I know it hurts sweetheart." His mother sympathised, motioning to his dirtied shoe.

"Are you gonna be okay?" His father teased causing the e/c girl sitting on his right to snort. Zach elbowed her, she returned his actions before tucking her tongue out at him.

Zach made a face to her and put on his headphones as the van drove off to Dane County Airport.

The car ride there was long. Thankfully though, there was no traffic and conversations with Gray were always entertaining to Y/n.

Y/n exited the vehicle after Zach, Gray followed her behind. Scott opened the boot for the children to grab their suitcases.

"Here." Y/n helped Gray removed his suitcase, the boy thanked her with a wide grin.

"You're welcome, bud." She returned the smile and ruffled his hair. An arm wrapped around her shoulder, startling her at first until she realised who it was.

Y/n interlaced her fingers with Zach's hand which hung off her shoulder as they made their way inside.

Karen, Scott and Gray followed close behind.
