Chapter 7

You breathing quickened and you dipped your head low. The feelings you'd tried to hide and forget came flooding back, all the memories, the good times and the bad times. Keigo looked at you with shock in his eyes and put everything down beside him before getting up to hold you, he placed his hands on your shoulders and you stiffened. 

Your mind spiralled reliving the worst moments of your life.

"This mission is critical, stay in your teams and don't split off!" The officer in charge spoke loud and clear for everyone to hear, you were teamed with Eraserhead and Present Mic. You were excited but kept a level head as this was your first mission as fully fledged hero.

"Stick by our sides like glue okay H/N" Eraser said sternly. You nodded quickly with your fists close to your chest. Your hero costume was tight fitting with a jacket to match over the top to keep you warm. You took a deep breath as you ran off with the pair to your location, you were to be by a back door to stop any escapees.

"Okay, be ready, I can hear movement" Present Mic spoke hushed from your hiding spot. You were ready to pounce at any given minute. Your quirk was that you could turn into any animal or mythical creature you thought of or even just use key elements from them like a cheetahs speed or a falcons wings.

The door swung open and 5 men came running out, you all leapt into action, Mic managed to stop 2 with his voice, Eraser caught 2 in his scarf but one kept running.

"I've got him!" You shouted bolting as fast as you could after the villain.

"No, H/N, get back here!" Eraser yelled at you but it was too late, you were already too far to hear him. You used all the speed you could to keep up with him, no matter what he threw at you, you managed to dodge or jump it.

"You wont get away!" You shouted, just then blue flames were thrown at you, your eyes wide you jumped as high into the air as you could like a kangaroo, within the blink of an eye you had wings on your back, soaring through the sky as fast as lightening, watching the villain from the sky like a kestrel, you shot down at super speed and knocked him to the floor.

"Get off me you bitch!" The villain warned, you knew that voice...

"Touya?" You asked gently, he looked to the side and you knew it was him. "What are you doing? Why were you in there?" You questioned. He lifted his body and pushed you off of him, breathing deeply.

"You don't need to know Y/N, now go home before I have to hurt you" He held his hand up as a sign that he wasn't joking. You shook violently ,how could this be happening? He was your best friend...

"Don't do this, we can sort everything out, I promise!" You pleaded with him to see reason.

"You couldn't understand, you could never get why I've chosen this!" He yelled, fire rising from his feet to envelop his body.

"I can try, please Touya!" Begging for him to listen, you couldn't loose him, he was the only one that understood you.

"Your forcing my hand here Y/N" He spoke calmly and it scared you. He threw fire at your feet and it grew to a roaring inferno, the heat was too intense, you tried to turn yourself into something that could deal with this heat but it was no good, you couldn't concentrate.

"I'm not sorry" He said before he vanished from your sight, there was a small space where you stood that wasn't touched by the fire but the smoke from everything that was burning around you filled your lungs, making you cough and choke from lack of oxygen, making everything start to spin and turn black so slowly it hurt.

You awoke to the sound of beeping from a heart monitor and the piercing whiteness of the room you were in. You blinked and everything hurt, a nurse came in to see you awake and asked you a few questions before getting a doctor. Do you know who you are, do you know where you are. This wasn't the first time you'd been in hospital but it was the first time you knew you couldn't do this without your friends. They had all chosen to go abroad to be full heros...

You almost fell to the floor but Keigo caught you and sat you on your bed, tears streaming down your face.

"Y/N I'm sorry, I really am" He said with sincerity. You shook your head and wiped your cheeks.

"I should've tried to deal with my past trauma properly, not just ignore it" You sat there for hours going through the photos and talking about everything that had happened during UA and the 2 years you did hero work before throwing the towel in and vanishing. 

He had no idea what you had been through, no one in your life did. He saw photos of you in hospital multiple times and newspaper clippings of your work. As you went through it all you tried to stop your tears but it didn't work. Mochi was by your side licking your cheek, you pet her and she stopped. 

"I'm proud of you" He finally spoke, you looked at him in confusion, he gently smiled at you, he held your cheek and you lent into it, he rubbed his thumb over a fresh tear to wipe it away.

"You went through hell and came out the other side, your stronger because of all of this" He spoke confidently and kissed your forehead. He wanted to keep you safe so nothing bad ever happened again.

"I haven't used my quirk in years, everyone thinks I'm quirkless" You whispered, he knew you better after you opened up, you stood and went to pull a box from under your bed, you put it onto the bed an opened it, there was all your hero items, your costume and support gear, some of your merch and more photos of you and other heroes, letters from fans...

"Y/N, I-I actually have something to show you" he said, you sat on the edge of the bed and watched him, wiping your eyes on your sleeve, he pulled out a necklace from underneath his shirt, the pendant was your most known icon, the caladrius, a white phoenix like mythical creature that absorbs sickness and carries it to the sun to burn the illness.

"Wait..." You spoke slowly touching the metal pendant carefully, you went into your box and pulled out an identical one showing him you held it gently.

"It was the first piece of merch the company made for me" You looked at him in awe, he had been a fan of yours since the beginning?

"I always wondered what happened to you"

"It wasn't pretty lets put it that way" You joked with a tone of seriousness.

"Is there something else?" He asked, putting a hand on top of yours. You sighed and went back into the box to pull out a photo and passed it to him. It was a very washed out version of you in all black with some strange looking people.

"I went into villainy for a bit, to see if I could find my friend but I ended up too deep and I did some bad things..." You trailed off, he felt bad that you went through all that trouble and hell for your friend.

"Like I said, you came out stronger because of it" He smiled at you, you smiled back at him. He had made you feel better about everything in a matter of hours than you had concealing it all those years.
