"Uh..." We scanned the room and saw every chair was full.
"You can tell exams are getting close. It's packed." Amity sighed.
"I don't see any place we can sit together." I said, still shocked at the room.
"What should we do now?" Amity seemed disappointed. I thought to myself.
If I really do believe we have a good relationship, then maybe I should start getting used to being around her more often.
"Um, Amity?"
Amity turned around, "Huh?"
"We can go to my place and study."

Amity's POV
"Amity, you've been suspiciously quiet for a while now." Luz eyed me.
"R-really?" I accidentally stuttered. Damnit, Amity.
We walked into Luz's family bookstore and greeted her grandma before walking upstairs to her room.
"Here we are. I'll go put on some tea, you can wait in here." She sat down her bag and walked past me.
"Oh! Y-you don't have to do that-" By the time I finished my sentence, she had already left the room.
I turned around and stared at the room. I wasn't really sure what to do or where to sit, so I toured her room for a little while until eventually deciding to sit on the floor on top of a soft pillow. I looked around as I tried to get comfortable, but being in your crush's room makes that pretty hard.
I thought for a moment, hesitating. When I finally decided to do it, I leaned back and softly laid my head down on her bed. It gives me such a warm feeling. I looked up for a second and noticed she still had the planetarium I gave her a while ago. I smiled. I then heard footsteps approaching the room and I immediately turned around and went back to normal.
"Sorry to keep you waiting." Luz smiled as she came in with a plate of tea and cheesecake.
"Wow, did your sister make those?" I asked, referring to the two slices of cheesecake.
"Yeah, you came at the right time. When her boyfriend visits, she usually makes something sweet to share. Let's eat before we start studying." Luz said.
I took a small bite of the cheesecake and grinned, "Delicious!"
"My sister will be happy to hear that." Luz smiled.
About an hour later we had finally started studying quietly. Except, there was one problem. I couldn't exactly...well...study.
Luz looked up from her textbook to see me staring at her while blushing.
My face turned even redder in embarrassment as I put my head down.
"Hm? What's wrong?" Luz asked.
"Oh, it's nothing." I said, trying to be as convincing as possible.
"Well, you seem really distracted." Damnit. Luz can read me like a book, "Do you see something weird?" She asked as she looked around the room.
I waved my hands, "Oh, no. Nothing like that, it's fine." I assured her.
"So, are you feeling sick or anything?" Luz asked as she got on her knees and crawled over to me. I quickly moved back and started blushing.
She stared at me for a moment. I was trying my hardest not to burst, "Your face is red, is it too hot in here?" She said, staring directly into my eyes.
"Uh..." I leaned back even more. My face was basically a tomato at this point.
It was silent. Way too silent for my liking. And this position she's in is driving me nuts.
I look down, "Luz, you're too close." I mumbled.
"Amity, I can't believe you." Luz said in a sarcastic tone.
"I can't help it! Being in the same room as your crush would get anyone excited!" I said while looking away, still blushing.
"Who's the perv now?" Luz teased me.
"This is perfectly normal!" I half-yelled in an embarrassed tone.
My eyes kept taking small glances at Luz and then averting them back over. She's just staring at me on her knees and doing nothing else. Is she trying to kill me?!
"Don't stare at me like that." I said, embarrassed.
Luz sighed, "Is this really what happens when you fall in love with someone?"
I slowly turned to face her and looked down while blushing, "Yes, it is." I placed a hand over my chest, "My heart feels like it's going to leap out of my chest."
I looked up at Luz and blushed, "Want to take a listen?"
She was staring at me again.
"I- I was just joking." I looked down
Before I knew it, Luz had had grabbed my hand and pulled it to her ear.
"Hey! Wait!" I closed my eyes the hardest I could.
"It's true. Your heart is beating pretty fast." She looked at me.
"Huh? Oh. So you just felt it through my wrist." I looked down in relief and disappointment.
Luz eventually crawled back to her side of the table and faced me.
"I think you should be a little more cautious, Luz." I said as I held the hand she touched close to my chest.
She scrunched her eyebrows into a sarcastic expression, "You're right. I'll be sure to stay on my guard while you're around, Blight." She said.
"You don't have to be careful around me! I wouldn't like you to do something so carefree like that to someone else, that's all." I said. I know I sound a bit possessive right now for someone I'm not even dating, but I can't really help it.
"Amity, you're the only one who'd react like that." Luz teased.
"You don't know that! You never know who might fall in love with you, Luz." I tried to defend myself.
"Yeah, right. Who's going to-"
"For instance...someone like Jerbo." I looked down saddened. I won't lie, I do get a bit jealous when I see them together.
"Huh? Oh, no, no. Jerbo would never. Don't worry." She tried to assure me
I looked down at my lap and balled my fists together on top of it, "I worry."
I paused for a moment then continued on, "You're the only one for me, but you don't feel the same way."
"You're right. I don't really have any reason why it has to be you, but the one who needs me the most is you, Amity. I know that. If you want me to be with you, I will." Luz said.
My eyes widened as I started blushing even more.
"That's what makes me worried." I set my elbows on the table and used my hands to grip my head, "But that's what I like about you."

Luz's POV
Going forward, I'll probably continue spending time with Amity, both inside and outside of the student council. Even though Amity loves me so much...will I still remain unable to change? I'd hate that.
I'm not alone, but... If only my heart would choose for me.
