I was confused, and not in a bad way. It's like everything just stopped. Amity just...kissed me. Our lips were softly pressed against each other's. It was a relatively quick kiss, but it felt much longer. When she finally pulled away, she stood in front of me, her hazel eyes sparkling,

"When I say "love," this is the kind I mean."

I stare at her. My mind in a daze.

"My heart flutters when I'm with you." She said, while I'm still not all the way there, "I've never experienced this with anyone else before."

The train guard lifted up and everyone else started to walk across, while Amity and I still stood there, confounded in the aftermath of our kiss.

We stared at each other for a good minute, then finally decided to turn around and start walking home.

I could see Amity touch her lips and whisper to herself, "What did I just do?"

I gripped the straps of my backpack even harder than before, "That's...what I'm wondering."

"It's perfect." I looked down at the draft of my speech as I read it over, "No way this is only a draft."

"I didn't know you needed this many people to help out with the elections." The other freshman, Jerbo, came up to me.

"Jerbo! You're here too?" I asked him as I turned around in my seat.

"I thought I might be able to decrease your workload." He looked down and smiled.

"Thank you." I smiled.

I looked over and spotted Boscha standing in the corner. On the other side of the room Amity was running over to her.

"Amity, you're late!" Boscha scolded her.

I turned around and looked at Amity as she made her way over to Boscha.

"Sorry to keep you waiting." She apologized.

"Our leading lady finally makes her grand entrance." One of the boys say as they look over at the president.

"I said I'm sorry!" She smiled. So pure. I watched her as she walked near the front of the room.

"Thank you all for coming." Amity announced, "Since campaigning is kicking off tommorow, I thought we should meet face-to-face and start planning our campaign." 

There was a long silence in the room.

"Any other questions." She asked.

"Nope!" Everyone said.

"Alright then. The meeting is officially over." Amity smiled and ended her announcements, "I realize you must be busy, but I'm counting on all of you."

I stuck my hand in my bag and started feeling around to check if I had all of my stuff.

"Luz." I look up to see Amity calling my name. She stared at me for a while. She must want something.

"Do you have a minute?"

I looked at her in confusion.

We were now on the school's balcony leaning over the railing, viewing the dozens of buildings along with the trees, the mountains completing the scenery.

"I'm sorry for what happened before." Amity said with shame in her voice.

"I'm not particularly bothered about it." I told her.
