Think about it. What if everything WAS different? What would happen? How would you change? How would the people around you change? If you think about it, the way things would be different, might even make it more like it once was.

I don't want to make this too terribly long, so let's get the ball rolling by saying a BIG THANK YOU to all of you beautiful people who took the time to read my poems. If I could make your day better, then I was successful in my writing, and I am very happy about that!
I joined Wattpad a couple years ago out of the hopes that if I downloaded it, my friends would stop pestering me to get it. (They are TheWhiteWolf21 and Pomgirl22! Go check them out!) However, when I opened it up, I got lost in all of the stories on this platform, and was kinda inspired to write my own. So to you two crazy souls, thank you for introducing me to Wattpad. <3
I had wrestled with trying to write a story in the past (as seen by my other "on hiatus" works lol), but they just weren't working out for me. I couldn't figure out a way to convey my thoughts and figures into a story line that was one, interesting and involving, and two, not garbage.
Eventually, COVID-19 really broke out and started to spread, and was taking many people down not only physically, but mentally as well. Individuals were alone and away from family, social interactions were a big no no, and the world was flipped upside down.
Ironically, I was never a big fan of poetry when I was younger. Lots of words, mystical phrases, odd writing formations, and dry poetry analyzing units in English class. It just never struck my fancy in the ways that books like Harry Potter, or Nancy Drew did back then, and sometimes I'll still find myself getting a bit bored with a piece of poetry nowadays too.
However, one day my mom and I were taking a walk and she mentioned something about how the universe always seems to correct its balance. How viruses like these break out, cutting down the human population, and setting the scale back to a good number. It hurts us, but realigns the world. I thought this was extremely fascinating, and out of the blue, decided to write a poem about it. No preparation, no real thinking even, it just spilled out. Emotions are fun like that sometimes, and mom, I just wanted to thank you for helping me to write the first poem in this series, "Correction". Couldn't have done it without you! ʕっ•ᴥ•ʔっ♡
Once that poem was made, I just kept going. Whenever I found inspiration, wanted to make a point, spread a message, or felt a strong emotion, I wrote a poem. Sometimes they rhymed, sometimes they didn't, but the important thing to me was that they conveyed what I wanted in my own unique language. And that was something that those other story attempts had failed to give me. Someday I want to try crafting another story, and I have quite a few ideas, but for now, poetry is the way I speak.
As I started making more of these poems, I started to wonder if I could post them on this forum. I knew that I wanted to share my work, but I was still pretty unfamiliar with Wattpad, and overall terrified at the idea of sharing my poems with other people haha. At the same time though, I had this mini dream of making a book of poetry that could share all different emotions, and spread a powerful message, and just help people cope with life, or at least add some spark to it. I don't know how successful I was in doing that, but I hope that I was able to be there for some people during this mess of a time we are trekking through. Making my mark on the world is definitely on my list of goals, but being there for the people around me is higher up on that list.
While I'm sad to see this book go, I am also glad that I am able to finish it. With the end of 2020, I feel that it is time to close this chapter of life, and look to a new one. One of redemption, love, healing, and rebuilding. This book and these poems residing within it were not only created as a means to release my emotions, but also to act as a stepping stone for people in the midst of quarantine, crisis, and mental struggle. I hope those weren't prominent factors, but sometimes it's nice to have something to distract you from the world. I'm happy with this book serving as something people can look back, but not dwell on.
I already have so many other ideas for poems, book titles, covers, and banners for the near future! I am so excited, but for now, I am taking a break. I will still be on Wattpad frequently, but I might not be updating too many stories. (Except maybe the songbook ;}) I'll make sure to take this time to catch up on stories I've missed, and check out the works of my followers. I wanna see what you creative little clams have been up to!
I want to thank you again for all the attention this compilation of shower thoughts has gotten. I never would've imagined that over reads would stack up on it, but presto, it has! I'm kinda mind blown. ♡^▽^♡ It may not seem like a big number to a lot of people, but to me, it means the universe, so thank you from the bottom of my heart. All the comments you've left on the poems made my day that much better, and I'm so fortunate to have people interested in this type of ~☆literature☆~. (hehehe big words)
Finally, try to get out and breathe in the sunshine, absorb some oxygen, and take in the beauty in the world. Sometimes you might have to search for it, but it's there, don't worry. And don't be afraid to take a stand for the things you believe in, and speak out against the things that are off. One of the best ways we can induce change is to get the ball rolling ourselves, and that begins with you. You can do it. You might not know what that "it" is yet, but you'll find it. I know you will, 'cause it's not the end of the story. It's just the beginning.
Hehe, guess I lied, this turned out pretty long after all. Ah well, I tried! Love you guys. Stay safe and happy, and try not to have too much fun without me! Until we meet again! ;p
Sincerely, your intergalactic friend,
Stardusttoad 💜🐌
