~Staples~

Finally, I have come to this letter, written especially for you.
You, who will never receive this array of words,
Drawn out by the long strokes of my hand.

Despite everything, I wish I knew how you're doing.
What your life is like,
How it's changed.
So in the most nonchalant way possible,
What's up?

Knowing you, you'd probably answer with just two words:
"The ceiling".
Despite everything, I miss that.
Despite everything, I still want that back.
However, we cannot turn back the clock.
That's Father Time's job, and for this matter,
Personally,
I doubt he would find it necessary.

I hope to see you again.
Things won't be like they were,
Never again.
But maybe that's for the best.

After all, you taught me some good lessons.
I won't ever forget them,
And as much as I wanted to at first,
You won't be forgotten either.

By me, at least.

I hope that we make it through this,
And meet again someday.
'Cause as long as you keep your funny, mischievous ways,
Your quirky, unique personality,
Your you,
Then I'll be okay too.

Stay safe, mate.

XO, XO.

~end of part 5~

Hello there~ I hope you are having a good day. This is the final poem in the Postcards from Quarantine alignment, marking the end of this short little series. This poem took a little bit more time to write than the others, but it helped lift some thoughts off my shoulders, and walking away from it, I feel a lot lighter. All of these five poems feature somebody from my life in a certain way whether it is figurative or literal. Originally I was actually going to leave this last poem unidentified, meaning that only I would truly know who I wrote the poem about. However, my mom read right between the lines and figured out who it was, so at least to my family, this final poem is no longer anonymous! (Love you mom) I truly hope you enjoyed, and maybe this inspired you to send a postcard (or letter) to someone you know. Yes, I know, with today's tech you can DM someone in the blink of an eye, but old fashioned works too. It's worth the extra hassle. ;}
Stay safe, and have a stellar week.

Thanks for readin'!

Love, Stardusttoad
