It had been three days since Storm had declared war on the Earth Wolves, and now, the Sky Wolves were preparing. More soldiers were being recruited and trained, food was being stockpiled, the Healers were collecting more medicines and herbs and there was a higher demand for armor and metal then before. The Sky Pack's blacksmiths were working full-time now on making the armor, even though no actual battles have happened yet.
But for the pups, things were still almost care-free.
In the past couple of weeks, Torrent and Freya had been spending more time together, and now they were the best of friends, they were almost inseparable. Whenever the bullies came around, Torrent always scared them off, and Freya showed Torrent the best and most fun places to hang out.
Today, Freya and Torrent were exploring the more forested areas on Cloud Hill, closer to some of the border's.
"Hey Freya, watch this!" said Torrent as she walked to the edge of a small, steep slope. Freya looked over at her friend, wondering what she was going to do.
Torrent backed up a few steps, away from the slope, before stopping. Then, she started running towards it as fast as she could, and right before she was about to run right off of it, she spread her wings and jumped into the air.
Freya watched, her purple eyes widening. What was her friend doing?
Torrent's wings caught the air, and instead of falling, she glided down to the ground slowly and landed on the ground gently.
Freya walked over to the edge and looked down, "that was so cool! How did you do that?" she asked.
Torrent smirked, looking up at Freya, "I learned that last week, and I finally got the hang of it." she said.
Freya looked at her in awe, "can you teach me how to do that too?" she asked.
Torrent thought about it for a moment, "I dunno Freya...I only just got the hang of it now...and your wings aren't fully developed..your still only five moons old you know..i'm six moons old, and usually Sky Wolves don't learn to fly until six moons.."
Freya looked at her, "please..?" she begged.
Torrent sighed, "alright....but i'm still getting the hang of it too.. I've only just learned how to fly, so I can't promise i'll be a good teach-"
"YAY!!! Thank you so much Torrent! You won't regret this!" Freya said happily, bouncing around. Her tail wagging super fast.
"I'm already starting to.." Torrent muttered.
"What do we learn first?" asked Freya, sitting down.
The dark grey she-pup thought for a moment, "wing exercises. You have to get your wings strong enough to be able to carry you when you're in the air." she said.
Freya tilted her head, "how do you do that?" she asked.
"Like this," Torrent opened her feathered wings and spread them out as wide as she could, then flapped a couple of times slowly, before closing them again. "That's what you do. Then you keep repeating this process until you think you've got the hang of it." she said.
Freya's eyes were wide in excitement. "Okay!" she said, and stood up, she then tried to do the same thing Torrent tried to do, opening her wings to the fullest extent they could go. It was hard, and her wings shook from the effort, since they haven't been used yet, the muscles were very weak.
Finally, she got her wings spread out, though they were still shaking from the effort.
Torrent nodded in approval, "great, now start flapping them slowly." she said.
