Scooter Grubbs was dead. And the boat they found somehow belonged to him. The thought of it made Saturn's stomach churn, was he down there when they were? What about his wife?
Thoughts of Scooter and Lana ran through the girl's head as she brushed her hair looking into the mirror of her vanity. Rafe had come and picked her up from John B's in a huff. She promised her friend's that she'd meet them at the boneyard later as she got into her brother's truck.
Saturn and Rafe's relationship had been strained, especially since their father was being harder on him since he dropped out of college the year before. He was staying home and spending money like it was nothing while playing golf with his friends all day.
The blonde girl tried to push the mean things her brother had said to her from her min but his words were burned there. "It's embarrassing that my sister's a whore who hangs out with nasty Pogues." She knew he was high, he always was, but the words hurt nonetheless.
Her mind soon drifted to the money that they had found and how she felt guilty for being a part of it. That money should go to Lana Grubbs regardless of if Scooter was a criminal or not. Stealing from a dead man was awful luck and everyone knew that. Everyone except JJ apparently.
Saturn blinked her blue eyes quickly, the blue that matched her brother and mother before running a stick of honey chapstick over her lips. Rafe had been sent to get her earlier because their father wanted to make sure she was still alive after the hurricane but other than finding out she was fine he didn't talk to her. He acknowledged her presence when they walked into the house, chastised her for staying out in a hurricane, and then went back into his office.
The blonde girl felt a familiar ache in her chest as she thought about her father. It was something she felt almost every time she was home, the feeling only going away when she was with the Pogues. It was loneliness.
The yearning for someone to care, for someone to listen. She couldn't remember the last time anyone in her family had actually listened to her, sure they heard what she said but they barely acknowledged it or simply didn't care.
She took a deep breath pushing the pain in her heart away before standing to her feet and changing into a different bathing suit and pulling on a pair of shorts as well as her dirty Nike air max and grabbed her bag heading for her bedroom door.
"Where are you going Sat?" Wheezie's small voice drew Saturn's attention as she headed down the hallway, the younger girl standing by her own bedroom door. "Back to the cut." Saturn's response caused Wheezie's face to scrunch up in distaste. "Gross." She scoffed before heading into her bedroom. Saturn shook her head and headed towards her car driving it to the Chateau.
