Saturn made her way up John B's driveway to where they were all sitting in and around the shed. JJ saw her and instantly smiled, except his excitement was wiped away the moment he noticed her eyes were puffy and her skin blotchy. He knew that when she cried her skin broke out afterward.
"Everything okay?" He whispered once she was standing by his side, thankfully the others hadn't noticed and simply greeted her with a smile. "Yeah, I'm fine." She responded trying to give him a smile but he saw right through it. "Satty, come on-" The blonde boy was cut off by John B walking over to them.
"Look, I'm calling it off. All right?" The brunette boy spoke up as he looked between them, his eyes lingering on Saturn taking notice of the redness of her skin. "Peterkin said, if I stay out of the marsh, she'll help me with DCS."
"And you believed her?" JJ exclaimed in shock thinking his best friend was absolutely stupid. "Yes, I believe her, JJ." Saturn rolled her eyes at the pair before going to sit next to Kie, the curly-haired girl linking their arms together.
"An actual cop, John B. You believed a cop." JJ scoffed shaking his head. "All I gotta do is stay out of the marsh for a couple of days, and she'll help me out. It doesn't help that your ass was the one shooting a gun." John B sassed back gesturing at his blonde best friend.
"You know what I should have done? Just let Topper drown your ass." Saturn was getting beyond irritated at the bickering they were doing, it definitely wasn't helping her headache.
"Topper was gonna drown me?"
"Yeah, John B, he actually was. You might not remember because you were unconscious but I do because I took care of you." Saturn interrupted causing JJ to motion to her in thanks and John B to bite his lip to prevent from saying anything rude to her.
"Have you looked in the mirror?" JJ added mentioning John B's black eye. "Tell me some more. Come on." John B taunted giving JJ a look. "They always win, don't they, man?" JJ scoffed before a burst of rage bubbled within him and he punched a hanging bouey causing Saturn to flinch slightly. "Kooks versus Pogues. They always, always win!"
"JJ, it's okay!" Saturn said hoping her friend would calm down. "No, it's not okay! It's not! They don't want us to go down into the marsh. That means there's something valuable down there, and you know it. I know you do." JJ said pointing at John B with a wicked look in his eye. "And I understand why you don't wanna go. You're the golden boy. You got way too much to risk. And you guys...I mean, you're already rich as fuck anyways." JJ added looking between Pope, Saturn and Kie.
"But you and me man, we got nothin' to lose! We really don't, all right?"
Saturn wasn't exactly sure but she had a feeling something else was going on with JJ that was putting him on edge.
