Ch.16: Bitter Revelations

The second the whistle sounded, Izuku sprinted towards the exit in front of him leading to the arena. As did everyone else.

Due to the constricted space in that one small exit, everyone was cramped together and had to push against eachother.

Izuku: 'They planned it to be like this on purpose. I can't get through here without wasting a lot of time.'

He waded through the crowd and back into the arena.

Ethan: 'Are you planning to run up the walls?'

Izuku looked up at the walls towering over him.

Izuku: 'Faster than shoving my way through there at least.'

Ochako: "Same idea huh?"

Izuku slightly jumped at heating that. Ochako laughed.

Ochako: "Sorry, did I scare you?"

Izuku: "Y-yeah..."

A thought popped into his head.

Izuku: "Wait, Uraraka can you apply your quirk to both of us for a sec?"

Ethan: 'I like your thinking.'

Ochako immediately understood what Izuku's plan was and gave a sinister looking smile. She negated their gravity and hopped onto Izuku's shoulders.

Ochako: "Let's do this."

With that, Izuku sprinted up the stadium walls with Ochako in tow.

Ethan: 'This'll come in handy when you need to get down.'

He then projected an image of a hooded figure morphing his arm into a bladed tendril and using it to grapple long distances into Izuku's mind.

He then woke up to Ochako staring at him while he stands still on the stadium walls, his legs still dug deep into the concrete.

Ochako: "Izuku are you okay? Why'd you stop?! We need to get over this!"

Izuku: "Right! Sorry! I just blacked out for a second there."

He then reached the top of the walls, jumped as far as he could and formed the bladed whip Ethan showed on his right hand.

Ethan: 'Sorry about that. Thought you'd need it, hehe. It's called Whipfist by the way.'

Izuku: '...yeah ok.'

He saw that a few people had made it past the cramped exit and recognised a few of them. Momo, Kaminari, Bakugo and that boy Ethan called a Canadian flag. Shoto Todoroki.

Ochako: "Hey aren't those the same type of robots we had to destroy in the entrance exams?"

Midoriya was preoccupied so he didn't notice them at first.

Izuku: "Yeah. Even the 0 Pointers. A bunch of them...how are we supposed to deal with them all?"

Ochako: "I don't think we are."

A few seconds of silence followed.

Izuku: "You're right that's a better option."

He then flung his Whipfist as far as he could and straight into the skull of the nearest 0 Pointer and tugged.

Izuku and Ochako shot forward and past the robot horde. He could see the other students below fighting some of the smaller ones.
Izuku turned his head to look at the girl on his shoulders.

Izuku: "Love your quirk, Uraraka."
He said as a sideways comment.

Ochako blushed but before she could say anything, they both heard a deafening sound similar to glaciers breaking apart. Looking back, they saw two of the 0 Pointers being frozen solid. And through the mist, ran out Todoroki. An empty look on his face; betraying a hint of disinterest.
Without saying anything, Izuku threw his Whipfist as far as he could and pulled.
They landed far ahead of Todoroki and Ochako cancelled her quirk. Izuku and Ochako exchanged a brief look and started running. They knew that their temporary truce was over. It's every man for themselves now.
