Family Feud

Jace's POV

After talking to Glory, I went back home and although I was scared that my dad would be around I was determined to face him and find out the truth about the stupid feud that has been happening for two decades now. I went to my room and fell asleep.
I woke up the next morning feeling a slight headache but I shrugged it off, had my bath, got dressed and went downstairs for breakfast. I met my mom and surprisingly my dad and also Xander, I walked to my seat and sat down

"Hey bro, where were you yesterday?" Xander asked

"Oh I went to see Glory and also" I looked at my dad before I said this "and also went to visit Riele at the hospital"

This triggered my dad and he stood up and barked

"I have told you times without number to cut all ties with that girl but you never listen"

"I can't remember you telling me anything like that and for the past week you haven't been home so when did you tell me such?"

"I can't believe you would do this to me, of all people you, my son whom I cherished and whom I thought would take over the business and the empire but no you decided to waste all of that cos of some girl from a family that you know did something so terrible to us"

"That's exactly my issue, we don't know what they did to us, what we know is that their grandfather killed our grandfather and I know that's not the whole truth"

"You really want to know the truth?"

"Yeah of course I wanna know"

"Well, my grandfather and Nathaniel's grandfather were partners, they built this company together but his grandfather became greedy and wanted the whole company for himself, when my grandfather found out he went to confront him and then it turned bloody and that's how this whole feud started and that's what my grandfather told me and I don't care if you believe me cos you're dead to me" he dropped his fork and left the house

My mom turned to me and said "when I got married into this family, his grandfather had a partner and I believed that his partner was your great grandfather's partner together with the Downs if you really wanna know the truth, you should start there"

"Do you know where he could be?"

"I'm sorry I don't"

"No need to be sorry, thanks for everything mom"

"No problem honey, I love you ok"

"I love you too Mom"

I was about to leave when Xander held my hand

"Where do you think you're going without me?"

I smiled and I was thankful that Xander has always had my back

"Thanks bro"

We made our way to our sports car and immediately sped off to the hospital. When we got there, we rushed to Riele's room, well Xander went cos if she saw me, she wouldn't want to come with me so I sent Xander instead and I waited for him outside and within a few minutes Xander came with Riele, as she saw me, she wanted to go back but Xander pushed her wheelchair towards me

"Hi Riele, how are you?"

"What do you want Jace?"

"I wanted to take you somewhere but I decided not to but I'll take you  when everything is taken care of"

"So why am I here?"

"I came to apologize once more, yesterday I know you were angry and I'm deeply sorry for putting you in this situation, I know you don't believe me but I would do everything in my power to make it up to and I promise you that"

"Whatever" she went back to the hospital

I just watched her enter the hospital and I felt tears sting my eyes

"Don't worry bro, after your plan, she'll forgive you I know she will"

"Thanks man, let's go"

We drove off to the Downs mansion and immediately we got to the door and her father saw us, he was so angry"

"What the hell are you doing here?"

"I know it's weird seeing us here and I know you're probably at the edge of shooting our heads off but before you do, hear me out"

"Fine I give you five minutes to talk and if I don't like what you're saying, it's bye bye"

"Thank you"

Xander and I sat down on the couch opposite Mr Downs and I started narrating everything that happened between Riele and I and I could see fire in his eyes and when I got to the part about the kidnapping,
he charged at me and started strangling me but Xander intervened

"Mr Downs, if Jace hadn't feigned her kidnapping, your daughter would've be dead by now but because my brother loved your daughter, he did that so he could save her and I think you should be grateful"

Mr Downs slowly left me and went back to sit down

"So what do you want for me?"

"A location"

"Location of who?"

"As you know your grandfather had a partner aside my great-grandfather"

"Yeah"

"We need his location"

"Why?"

"We need him to tell us the truth and unite the families so I can be with my girlfriend"

"Fine"

He wrote something in a piece of paper and gave it to us

"Go save our family son"

I nodded and we left the house and followed the directions and got to an abandoned house

"Are you sure this is is the place?"

"Yeah, it is"

"But this looks like it has being abandoned for years"

"There's nothing we can do, we just have to"

We walked to the front door and knocked. An old man like really old came to open the door

"Hi, are you Mr. Jason?"

"Jason would do, who are you?"

"We are sons of George Norman, you may know our great-grandfather"

"Oh yes I do, what can I do for you?"

"We want to know about our great-grandfather and his partner"

"Okay come in"

We walked in and sat down on an old cushion

"So, what do you want to know?"

"Everything"

Another chapter down and we are drawing close to the end of this book just two chapters left
