Melisandre

Melisandre watched as ships sail for Dragonstone. When Winterfell was lost and its residents retreated, the red priestess stayed behind. She foresaw a vision in the flames, a glimpse to what would become of the realm, and of those living and breathing. Melisandre perceived it as a gift from R'hllor, the Lord of Light, and a warning for his follower to share, for Jon Snow--as she had seen--would rend the Seven Kingdoms asunder.

He was not hard to find; he had found her before she had. Above smoke and ash, blood and fire, stood the King she had brought back for him to send away. His Northmen brought her forth upon his command, and all eyes around turned to her.

"How are you alive?" Jon asked her when she came forward, his tone direct and blank. He sent the red priestess away after learning what she had done to Princess Shireen, an innocent above all else, warning she would meet her god if ever their paths crossed again.

"Death is simple to cheat when one can outsmart it, Jon Snow." Melisandre answered. "You and I share that in common."

"I warned you that if you ever came back, I would have had you hanged as a murderer." He shot back.

The priestess raised her head. "Kings Landing was full of murderers and killers and still is. Why not have the same done to them as you planned for me?"

"Unlike you, I've not yet heard of any murderers and killers to have burned children and innocents. Whether our war is done or not, it does not mean I have forgotten what you have done."

"I have only done what I was asked of. How long have you gone following another without ever doing otherwise?"

"I'm not the one who let another to determine my course of actions or deeds. You burned a child, and more innocents before her. When did you ever consider thinking that was wrong?"

"Those who I've put to the flame aren't nearly enough as those who burned in this city."

Jon scoffed a little. "Of course not, that is because you weren't here to burn more. Your Lord ordered you to massacre those who did not deserve death, and you mocked all laws of life and nature as you followed his command."

"His command was to bring you back from the dead, from whatever world we enter when we depart from this one. I saved you because of him." Melisandre defended.

"Death is not always a void of punishment and fear. Sometimes it is a means of escape for those who endured living." The man eyed his men. "If all you've come here is to defend your actions in front of an audience who would all agree to seeing you hanged, then you've done the only thing right in your life."

"What of Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen? Was it not I who brought ice and fire together, the King of The North and the Princess Who Was Promised? Nothing would have happened had it not been for me. Your armies and homes and world would have all died, the shadows having rung the realms of men asunder."

Jon drew his sword and spun back around to the woman. Melisandre's only recoil was that of her head lifting back. "Do what you want. I have done my part already; I have brought the two of you together and have no means of breaking you both apart."
