Chapter 14

"Thank you so much, Miranda, it was really satisfying." Susan chuckled as she approached the actress she had hired.

"You trusted me. I had to do my best." Miranda grinned, nodding her head at Susan.

"I chose you because I knew you won't refuse me." Susan patted Miranda's shoulder in appreciation. While Ian who was walking out of the building stopped in his tracks at the sight of these two women. It didn't take him a minute to realize who was behind all that drama.

"You did well, now start preparing for your new serial." Susan offered to which Miranda got all giddy and nodded her head vigorously while muttering a thank you.

"Susan, how could you do this?" Ian couldn't resist confronting her, so he marched towards him as he spoke with rage. Miranda's eyes widen and Susan turned at the sound of his voice, but she seemed nonchalant. Miranda excused herself and strolled away. "I asked, how could you?!" Ian raised his voice.

"You know why I did it." She smirked, folding her hands over her chest.

"And what did you get by doing so?" He asked in agitation. He couldn't imagine his wife could be so cruel.

"Just proving that I'll always be above her." She passed a satisfying smile and walked past him.

"You've changed a lot, Susan," Ian said in a low voice, causing her to stop. "You've changed too much that it makes me think if I would marry you knowing what kind of woman you are." He turned around, facing her back.

"Ian!! What does that mean?" She turned around abruptly as if those words shook her.

"Where is that woman I once knew and loved, Susan?" His voice almost a whisper, as he spoke helplessly. "The woman who could make me smile even on a stressful day. Where is she Susan?" Susan just crossed her arms over her chest and looked away from him. Tears gathered in his eyes as he continued, "Who is this woman in front of me, Susan? I don't know her." He gulped, but a tear flowed down his eye. He walked away leaving Susan wondering.

She pursed her lips, trying to stop the tears from escaping her eyes.

------------

"One more glass please." Ian orders again while I sit beside him and sip on my margarita. After the pack up he came to me and requested me to let him treat me to a meal as an apology for his wife's behavior but ever since we got here, he's doing nothing but drinking. I was tired and wanted to go home but I couldn't say no to him as well because I knew it wasn't his fault. As the waiter approaches our table, I raise me hand signalling him to not get anymore drinks for him because he is clearly wasted now.

"Hey, you said you wanted to treat me as an apology or did you bring me here as your driver?" I complain, looking at him who raised his head looking back at me with hooded eyes. I pick up a nut from the bowl placed in front of me and pop it in my mouth.

"J, I'm saying this from the bottom of my heart. . ." He turns to face me and bends. "I'm really sorry. . . I didn't know she'd do something like this. . ." He slurs, while he brings his hands together to say sorry. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry." He repeats and I groan softly.
