chapter 19

Melody's POV.

Mom walked out and closed the door behind her. I guess now is the time I began explaining the word bomb that I previously dropped on everyone. The peanut butter was beginning to get stuck in my throat. I needed something to drink. I looked around and then I saw my dad's hand extended towards me holding a cup of almond milk. I grabbed the cup and drank some.

Melody: thank you.

Andy: your welcome, so can I ask you a question?

Melody: sure.

Andy: what exactly did you say back there?

Melody: exactly what you heard is what I said.

Andy: So you can't have kids?

Melody: pretty much.

I looked back at my plate and continued to eat my pancakes again. I took a small bite and looked back up at my dad. The way his face looked right now showed how he was trying to figure out what to say. I can tell he is being very careful, but he doesn't have to because all the rage is out of me.

Andy: how long have you known about your current inability.

Melody: for about a year now. It's also not a current thing it's permanent.

Andy: I personally don't understand much of this but if you are comfortable talking about it please clarify it for me.

Melody: I'll just tell you the basics of it because the details aren't needed.

Andy: okay

I took another few bites and then drank some milk. I was almost done with my breakfast. I decided to finish it before I had to speak again. Once I was finished Dad took the plate and cup from my hands.

Melody: you know what the uterus is right?

Andy: um correct me if I'm wrong but it's what women shed during the menstrual cycle, and where you would carry the baby.

Melody: you're right that are two of its functions.

Andy: okay so what about it?

Melody: well you see I recently found out that I was born without one.

Andy: wait, as in none at all?

Melody: yeah like it doesn't and never has existed in my body?

Andy: and that's why you can't have kids.

Melody: well the big main reason yeah.

Andy: What are the other reasons?

Melody: it's not important just know that I still have my cycle but I do not have a uterus pretty much the situation in a nutshell.

Andy: okay is there anything else you would like to tell me?

Melody: yeah, that I need to tell you and Mom something relating to this very much but once we are home and all because I do not feel comfortable talking about it here. Although even at home I need to talk to you both separately because then I can tell you what you need to know and mom all the gruesome details that you don't need to know.

Andy: I'll remind you once we are all settled at home and we have unpacked.

Melody: good plan.

Andy: Well I'll leave you to it. By the way, you left everyone in shock so I wouldn't be surprised if the guys come to talk to you. They want some answers too.

Melody: okay, thanks for the head up.

I hugged dad from the side and leaned on him. I felt dad hug me as well and then he rubbed my back.

Andy: are you okay?

Melody: yeah, I am. Thank you, for everything.

Andy: Why are you thanking me? I am pretty sure I should be thanking you.

Melody: Thank you for adopting me and giving me such a good life. Why would you thank me if I only cause trouble?

Andy: you're chill. You take everything so well. You're also loving. I can go on and on, but I am pretty sure you get what I mean.

Melody: yeah, I get it

Andy: Well, let me take your plates.

Dad stood up, grabbed the plates from beside him, and kissed me on the forehead. Then he walked away and closed the door behind him. I grabbed my phone and began to text Loly and Lesly.

Text conversation with Loly:

Mel: Hey what's up how's everything on the island?

Lolz: same old thing. Hot and being stressed. How's the new family?

Mel: It's crazy and nice, I don't know how to explain it but I miss you so much.

Lolz: yeah I'm all alone now.

Mel: I don't know when or how but I want to either go home and bring you and Lesly out before school starts.

Lolz: I don't care which but that's a good idea

Mel: yeah I'm going to tell Lesly right now anyway talk to you the next chance I get. I love you and miss you.

Lolz: love you too, missing you too. Ttyl.

End text conversation with Loly.

I texted Lesly but no reply hopefully she answers soon though.
