Chapter 5

(Katie's POV)

As I'm walking downstairs I spot Matthew looking at me, I give him a 'what' look and shrug when he looks away, I walk in the kitchen and hear someone behind me.

"Okay, so I thought we had something going?" He said with a duh tone, I shrug finding a candy stash in the cabinet.

"What flirting? I mean think about it, that's not really anything." I say with a shrug, he scoffs.

"Whatever, all you're doing is acting like a bitch." He says making my jaw drop, I walk up to him and slap him, I walk out and hurry up the stairs, when I get in the room I forget Hayes is there and start to cry against the door.

"Katie?" He asks, I don't look up and just shake my head, I know I seem dramatic, but I never could take anyone calling me names, especially boys.

"Hey what's wrong?" Hayes asks me once I stand up looking at him, I shake my head and he motions me to come to him, I walk over to him and he pulls me into his lap.

"Is everything okay?" He asks me, I laugh and nod.

"I'm just being dramatic." I say shaking my head, he chuckles and shakes his head.

"No one cries being overdramatic, well actually yeah they do, just tell me what's wrong." He says making me laugh slightly, I start talking as he wipes my tears.

"Matthew, he called me names, I just have never been the type of person to take that easily." I say shaking my head.

"What'd he call you?" He asks with an angry expression, I look and see his fist tightening making me smile.

"It's nothing to get mad over." I say shaking my head, he nods calming down and I play with the hem of his shirt.

"Thanks for making me feel better Hayes." I smile up at him, he smiles back and laughs.

"Want to know something that'll make you laugh?" He asks me, I, of course, nod and he smirks.

"My first name is Benjamin, but I win over Nash because his is Hamilton." He says making me bust into a fit of laughter, I don't know why he just makes me laugh.

"It's so stupid, why am I laughing?" I say wiping the tears out from under my eyes from laughing.

"Oh never mind I know, it's your face." I say nodding, he pushes me off of his lap making me laugh even more.

"Katilyn calm down." He says as I start crying even more from laughter.

"Help me, please." I say laughing, he sits me up and pinches me repeatedly.

"Ow you bitch." I mumble slapping his hand away, he smirks and I gasp in shock.

"You're so good at annoying me." I say nodding, he slaps my arm and I slap him back.

"Alright children calm down." Madison says coming in the room, then making a disgusted face when she sees Hayes.

"I still hate you." She says with a shrug, I shake my head and Hayes nods.

"Neither of you hate each other, plus you'll learn to live with it because you're staying here all summer and you're staying all summer, so make up." I say smacking my hands together, they both give me looks then each other.

"Nah." They both say shaking their heads, I huff and walk out of my room and downstairs, everyone is sitting in there even the spawn of satan himself.

"Katie, Hayes hit me!" Madison screams coming downstairs.

"I'd rather hit Katie." He says right behind her, Cameron and Nash snap their heads and he puts his hands up.

"I'm just joking." He says with a laugh, they both sit there staring at him and I laugh.

"Come sit bestie." I say patting the seat beside me, Hayes and Madison both start to walk towards me and my eyes widen.

"Oh no." I mumble as they start arguing.

"I'm her best friend, I've known her longer." Madison growls at Hayes.

"Yeah well, Katie who is your best friend?" Hayes ask turning to me, I start to say something and Madison stops me.

"Don't answer that, Hayes will get his feelings hurt." She says with a smirk and sitting beside me, I look at him and shrug.

"Whatever." He says rolling his eyes and sitting in the middle of the floor.

"Okay, Nash and I agreed we should go to the amusement park tomorrow, any takers?" Cameron speaks up, we all shoot our hands up.

"Alright!" He shouts clapping his hands together then rubbing them, everyone gets intwined in their own conversations and then eventually everyone is tired, they all head upstairs besides me, Madison, and Hayes.

"Hayes you aren't mad, are you?" I ask beside Madison, who is snoring loudly.

"Nah, I'm fine." He says shaking his head and rubbing his eyes.

"Alright, I guess I'm sleeping down here, I guess you could sleep in my bed." I say with a shrug, he smiles like a child and bends down to my height on the couch.

"Night pretty girl." He smirks kissing my head, I smile and tell him goodnight before laying down and falling asleep.
